Does anyone who bought the X6 wished they went for X5
I am about to put an order in for an X6 2021 and was just curious to hear if anyone who bought the X6 wished they went for the X5 after owning it. For the back seat smaller size and trunk space really...
I have leased my whole life but am going to purchase my next car (likely the X6) so wanted to make sure I got it right and wanted to hear about anyone who has owned it wishing they had more space in back/trunk etc... Thanks |

Think it really depends on your needs and taste. We are very happy with the X6, but only have a 10 year old kid. Extra rear headroom and trunk height has not been an issue and we really preferred the styling of the X6. So, works for us but your own situation and needs would dictate it for you.

I've had my X6 for about 300 days - there have been 2 occasions where the boot space in an X5 would have been needed, but about 298 where the looks of the X6 have been appreciated more. I know what I'd choose if I was doing it again...

Thanks for the feedback...My wife has the Q7 so that was part of my thinking as well...I honestly don't feel like going to the dealers now with all this going on to really feel both out...
Is the X5 significantly bigger in back and trunk? I just have always liked the X6 and the X5 is just about everywhere... Just was curious to hear about people who owned it felt it was an issue...Thanks again for the feedback... |

I think the X6 styling looks best on smaller vehicles like the X4. I really like the X4 for some reason. I like the X5 look more than the X6 though, but just barely. The rear end on the X5 could have been designed better IMO.

I've never owned either although will have an X5 by the end of the month (hopefully)...there's a 2020 X6 m sport in my street that I pass most days.
I've never quite gelled with the shape of the X6 / understood the reason why it'd be preferable to the X5...but then the world would be a dull place if we all liked the same things! |

Nope, from my own perspective, the X6 feels fresh, stylish and young. I had an X5 in 2017-2018, I felt 10-15 years older in it.

You need to absolutely want it. It's a very niche vehicle with very noticeable sacrifices. It's all about the looks. Obviously, it appeals to a much smaller, very focused market. Resale too.
I'd say that if you have any hesitation whatsoever. Any. Just go with a X5. Especially if you're buying. You have to love those looks and could care less about the decrease in rear headroom (not that bad in this generation) and cargo space (very bad still). They're very common in my area. X5s are extremely rare. I think the X5 got played out here ages ago so everyone has moved on to the X6 and X7. From my perspective though, the X6 got beat up and left for dead with the ugly stick. |

If you want the 6 cylinder and DHP, you have to get an X6. If you already have a Q7, and you want the X6, I say go for it.

For what it’s worth, I have the DHP on the X6. The handling is superb. Worth it for this alone in my book. It really hides its size and weight.

Then it sounds like the X6 is for you. Even with cargo, you can make it work. If you can afford one, if something like a new baby came up, you can get another car to be the main baby machine or buy a nicer stroller that folds compactly. You'll be fine. Enjoy your X6 and don't second guess yourself.

I got the X6 in August and I have no regrets and wouldn't want the X5.
The boot/trunk is surprisingly large and enough for all my needs, and - this is going to sound a bit douchy, sorry - but I see loads of X5s on the road where I live, common as anything, but I have only seen another X6 other than mine, and I like the notion of relative exclusivity Plus I had the F16 for 3 years, before I had the Porsche, and loved it, so wanted to return to that again.

I have the x5 g05 my wife has a x6 e71, she prefers the x5 because of the newer technology. Although the x6 is almost 10 yeras old (we bought it) I still like to drive it, it's a 6 cilynder diesel. The trunk is large enough for most cases. When we take the dogs we take the X5...

I came into my '21 X5 from a '19 Cayenne and was really torn for some time between the X5 M50i and the X6 M50i. It was a coin toss in the end and my decision was based on the fact that I purchased the X5 outright and guessed that it would be easier on resale. I love the X5, tons of space, great power and an overall good looking SUV.
I liked the Cayenne but came to see it as an SUV with a 911 front clip. The X5 is really a better vehicle in every way for me especially with the TT V8 which kick ass. |
