Well, a couple of hours later, the fault message is not in the app. I have not checked the X5 to see if it thinks there's a problem, or to see if there's a hidden fault code stored in memory.

I got the same message at 1230 MT and was about to try to schedule an appointment when I thought to check here. Glad I did! The message is gone now. The weird thing for me is it happened to me the first time I plugged in at our new office charger. It was my first time using it so thought it might have been related? Not sure if others were plugged in at the time or not?

Hello guys. This is occurring in the X7 forums as well. I currently drive a 23 X7 M60i, and today I’ve gotten all kids of warnings like brake malfunction, starter battery malfunction, park gear malfunction, and etc. They go away for 10 mins then come back on the app. Nothing shows up in the car. They all say since march 28th. Something crucial that I noticed was that the car is asking me to install the 3/2023 update once again. I already completed it as soon as it was released in march. Maybe BMW found the issue and will fix it with the update? The update was released about 2 hours ago. Hope it helps!

Same thing on my 2024 40i. Seems to be an app thing as people are showing off and on and I have a hard time believing all of us have battery issues at the same time. And mine is about 3 weeks old. So with the issues we all seem to have, likely an app issue.
Edit: mine came back again. I played around in the app, and noticed if I go to a couple different screens in the app and then back to the home page, the warnings disappear and I get an “All good”. So obviously an app issue. Last edited by AllVol; 05-11-2023 at 09:43 PM.. |

It's definitely a BMW server issue. Many people are getting the same service/warning messages with the exact same timestamp. These messages come and go within minutes sometimes, so just ignore them.

I’m glad these notifications were a bug. I was getting worried and ready to contact my dealer for repairs!
At the moment, the notifications have returned and come back on my app. Last edited by mmm50i; 05-12-2023 at 01:40 AM.. |

Just got the same messages about battery check up, brake check up, urgent battery check up, and starter battery limited. 2021 45e. Like others, no messages in iDrive.
The battery and brake check up messages say March 28 at 7:34 and 7:35 am (Pacific), so identical to what others here have said. Glad to have googled and found this thread! |

They probably have a bug in some sql database code and it sends the same warnings to all users

Glad that it seems to be a simple bug. I just saw the warning this morning and that got me very worried with a 6 month old car. Same as everyone else. Multiple warnings about the battery with the March 28 date.

ADDEENDUM I posted this message without checking the flurry of posts that followed. This is obviously a glitch on the app. I feel much better now

I was plagued by this all yesterday too. So far clear this morning.
Hope it’s not BMW servers getting hacked. A lot of hacking activity lately from the other side of the world. |

I’m glad to see I wasn’t the only one having the issue. It came and went yesterday as most of you all experienced too. It’s gone this morning but I noticed I lost 7 miles overnight which usually doesn’t happen for me. I’m also having to manually refresh my app by remote lock and unlock. Anyone else noticing other issues on the app too?

I got the same messages yesterday as well, starting at around 3pm PST, and going till around 4:30pm PST. They messages would come and go, if I refreshed the status, they would appear and then disappear. The one thing that made me think it was a server issue was the message about my high voltage battery since I drive a '21 M50i, and unless they started classifying a 12v battery as high voltage, that message definitely did not belong to my vehicle..

did you happen to precondition while not plugged in? I wouldn’t worry too much about the lost mileage, though. just drive and charge and observe, but it should level out to your normal values again Last edited by nZtiZia; 05-12-2023 at 03:23 PM.. |

I just returned from my dealer. I was informed that two other cases of these buggy service messages had been reported to them. In one of the cases, they kept the vehicle for two days to test. Nothing was found wrong with the vehicle. They contacted BMW (I believe BMWNA) about the issue. The SA told me BMWNA informed them that this is an app-related issue and they are working to resolve it.
