It was still holding air but wasn't comfortable with using it again so I knew I needed to replace the tire. I searched for weeks for one rear tire (315/30/22) with no luck and finally called my dealer to bite the bullet and buy BMW's winter set up. I mentioned to the parts guy what had happened and that I was aggravated that I needed to buy a whole set of wheels/tires because I couldn't find one rear tire. He asked which tire it was and said he could get it for me in a couple days. I figured he "thought" he could get it and would strike out when he actually tried to place the order but I spoke with him yesterday and he said the tire came in and he had it waiting for me to go pick it up! I'm pretty psyched that I avoided spending the $4k+ on the winter set up but also a little shocked that the price of one Scorpion Winter went up to $605!

Oh well, going to grab it today and should be all set for the winter now.
I ordered my Scorpions from the dealer last Sept and they have kept it in storage. I have my tire swap scheduled for next Friday. I was a bit apprehensive about going staggered but seems like it will be just fine. I also have been buying tire/wheel sets everytime I changed cars and it was getting silly. This will be the first time I'm just doing a tire swap.

How much does your dealer charge to store and swap tires?

Can you PM me the name of your dealer when you get a chance? I'm taking delivery tomorrow and my dealer can't seem to confirm these tires at all so far. Think they're going to try and push the winter package, maybe.

Would really appreciate it! Tks

Installed my winter setup a few weeks earlier than usual but wanted to get it off my list of things to do...

Same Vossen HF-5 in stock 21/22" with Pirelli snow tires I ran last year except I had them refinished in gloss black since I was never happy with the satin gunmetal look against blue cars. Happy as a "winter look" since I am not normally a black wheel kinda of person. Def. miss the HRE's but this will do for now lol

Put the 740ms on- I’m loving the extra sidewall but need to figure out the offsets. I swapped my spacers so running 18mm up front and 12s in the rear. Might be calling @rgsport for some 25mms to put on the rear in a bit tho.

Rough fitment for front-

https://www.willtheyfit.com/index.ph...h=9&offset2=35

I had a page for the rears but lost it

Loving this look - OEM+ and a dark colour definitely better IMO for the winter slog!

I would like to keep my current wheels 818m and put on them winter tires.

Is it going to work does it make any problem to transfercase/xdrive since I know there are winter tires with same dimensions as summer tires

That is the same as stock tire sizes so you won't have any issues. Same setup i am running a few posts up.

Perfect because I am going to use it too here in EU, I will get charged 5800 euro for Winter Set wheel/tires by bmw and its 21/21’ so I don’t like to spend that much money for now so will install same size as you did.

I will update you later with my pictures.

Bumping this thread back up.

I'm noticing sites like getbmwparts.com and bmwpartsdeal.com have the official winter set for almost half the price of dealers/bmw site.

Does anyone know if it is safe to order from any of these or other discounted sites? I wouldn't bother asking if I didn't already see some positive reviews elsewhere.

Thank you in advance.

I get all of my OEM BMW parts from Evan over at getbmwparts.com for years. FYI they are a BMW dealership that also does internet sales with on average 20% off what regular dealers tries to charge.

Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately all of them are sold out of the winter set and I cannot find anywhere that has them in stock nor that has any winter tires in stock for my 21/22 set up. Car is unfortunately sitting in park now as there is snow on the ground. If anyone knows where I can get a winter tire set for my sizes or the 808 winter tire and wheel set in stock I would greatly appreciate it

I have a winter set on order at a dealer that I don't need anymore because my tires for the OEM wheels came in from Tirerack.

I can PM you the details if you want but last update I got from the dealer is that only 2 of 4 were in so far from so who knows when they other 2 will show up. Also there someone on here that found the 22 scorpions in stock on eBay shipped from Italy or something like that.

Afaik it's the offsets for the backs that are having problems at current being sourced. You could run a spacer and get 4 of the fronts if you're in a pinch. I'm sure RG_Sport could help you in that regard.

I was able to manage finding 3/4 tires locally and ordered the missing back tire from ebay thanks to gamerguy

Looks like winters on my 818 it is. Slight hassle swapping the tires twice a year but at least I'll keep the look of my 818s through the winter 🥶

If you can get the dealer to store your tires, it's not as much of a hassle to swap twice a year.

I'll be interested to see how that works out long-term for many people (not saying it won't, just interested). That 22 inch wheel in back and that tire is going to be a bugger going on and off two times a year. I'd definitely be doing that at the dealership and not at a local shop.

This tire shop is certified by Tire Rack, Michelin, Pirelli, Continental etc. Would not trust any other shop to handle this twice a year
