For me it is everything about the ///M and competition version. The aggressive looks, the seats, all the M unique finishes. And of course the M performance parts and tunes. It's a legendary car, no questions

Once you go M, you won't go back. I had a custom build 2018 M4 CP. (Before the M4, I had a 2013 335i) I wanted to get an X6 as I fell in love driving my wife's 2021 X4 M40i. I never thought in a million years that I would fall in love with freaking SUV's. Believe it or not, I ordered an X6 50i initially. I called my CA about 1 week later and had him change it to the M with the CP. I honestly can't see myself going back to a non-M car. Well, life will tell. Lol… M POWER all the way. 😊 |

Well my logic was;
Urus is too flashy, not for me SVR is too slow, but is reeeally comfy Trackhawk pulls strong and has a good mod community but sucks inside X3M didn't feel nice and I hate that the spare is in the back compromising space RSQ8 I ordered, then got burned by the dealer Drove the x5m and I had to have it, simple as. Honestly, I wonder what a Cullinan feels like. I should go drive one.

I’ve dreamed of owning a brand new M car since 8-10yrs old. When I finally felt that the time was right I looked at the entire lineup of M cars and decided the F95 is the best looking car and doesn’t compromise much on performance. The thing is basically an M5 on stilts.
That and the stuff others have mentioned—best interior in class, low-key compared to the Urus, better user experience than x3m. Also, personally, i’m a fan of taller ride height. I love the visibility and presence of the car. The usability/utility seemed exactly right for me too in terms of size, trunk space, rear seat space, etc. |

I've always loved the look of the X5. It's has very masculine lines the designers did a very good job with the car.
Started with a 2018 m sport then I got into a 2021 M50i. I loved the power of the v8 and the design of the new G series X5. A few months after I got the M50i I started getting badge envy everytime I saw a X5M in the wild . I told myself before I didn't need a 600+ hp daily driver. Fast forward to a year of ownership my wife and I stopped into our local dealer just to window shop. Saw a black/shakir X5M and it caught her eye. She said "let's check it out" She said "wow this black is nice you should get it aren't you sick of white after two white X5s" We looked at it quick and left. When I got home the F&I manager text me saying he saw me checking out the car. He told me to come check out the car and take it for a drive. Told the wife I was gonna run to the store to grab some things. She sent my this text on the way to the dealer. Long story short they gave me $8k off and I got another $1k CCA rebate so bought it right after I test drove it.

I’ve always driven M cars except for the last 3 years prior to my X6MC, I drove an Alpina B7. Just like the handling and power on the M cars.

Always loved the M3 as a kid, so had to get one and been hooked on M cars since then. Still have an M3, but it barely gets driven. I switched from M cars to M SUVs once I needed to haul kids around. Stuck with BMW because I didn't like the offers from others (hated MB interior and infotainment system but love the look of AMG. disappointed with RR ride, handling and their infotainment is painfully slow. Audi never appealed to me. SRTs lack the luxury and handling. Other HiPo SUVs weren't my cup of tea). My biggest complaint about the XM5 is lack of factory hitch and all-season tires, as you can get those on the competition, but its still a frickin awesome ride.

Hey quick question to those who cross-shopped this and the Cayenne GTS and above models. Aside from the price, why did you get an X5m instead of the Porsche (or GLE63)?

Why the X5m over anything else? I got it because; The X5m had rear seat fold down latch/levers in the back over the RSQ8 and the GLE. With the RSQ8 you have to walk around to each side to fold the seats down, which is annoying. The GLE you have to be tall enough and have long enough arms to reach the very top of the seats to fold them down. With the BMW you just pull those levers. GLE63 felt heavy and chunky, I hated the infotainment system and I can't stand not being able to disable the voice commands. The Porsche unless you spec it out exactly the way you want doesn't have the driver assist features or basic stuff like.. surround view. comfort access... Just simple stuff. Go drive it all and buy what you like

Long post warning and a lot of typing on my phone so please forgive typos
My first X5 was a 2001 E53 4.4i. I prefer driving sports cars but having only one vehicle, the SUV worked best for me, especially in winter. I went on to a 2005, then a 2008 E70 4.8, great car. It was love at first sight when I saw the E71 X6. I was part of a focus group prior to it coming out but knew of it from a forum. I ordered a 2010 E71 X6 50i and did PCD. I was blown away. It was perfect and so much different than the X5. I have to say it was by far my favorite vehicle. It was a beast. I felt like a 6er and X5 had a baby. It was the best of both worlds. The handling was incredible for a 5,000+ lb. vehicle. When the 6er was released with xdrive I thought I would cross over to a car but wound up getting a 2013 X6M. When the 2013 lease end was approaching, I looked at the Cayenne and the newly released GLE coupe but stuck with BMW. Unfortunately, I opted for a 2016 F16 50 instead of the F86M due to something in the M package I didn’t want. The only difference between the M and the 50 in the E71s was the HP. Did I really need 500+ hp, no. So I ordered a 50. I assumed it was the same in the F16/86 but I was soooo wrong. Someone else mentioned that the non M drove like a Lexus - sad, but true. I hated it. The ride was floaty, the steering was loose, twisty entrance ramps were no longer fun. I lasted 3 months, took a bath and got into a 2016 X6M I found on a dealers lot. BMW watered down the non Ms to cater to a larger audience that doesn’t want firm suspension, tight steering and all things true BMW drivers want. So here I am in a 2022 X6MComp. Do I need 617hp? No. But going with the M seems to be the only way to get the old BMW driving experience. |

It is also interesting that the X5M feels big while the GTS feels smaller when driving around, although size wise there is not much difference. |

I didn't seriously consider the Cayenne because of the Porsche markup. I did seriously consider the GLE, in particular because it had adjustable back seats, but in the end passed because it was ugly AF to me, had a pretentious dealership, and would take months to deliver.

For me it has to do with lifestyle changes. My wife and I had a 2020 X5 sdrive 40i and a 2020 M4 Coupe. We both are now remote and work from home. We do not need 2 cars. We were so impressed with the X5 40i and essentially combined the best of both of these cars with the X5m. I do miss the M4 still. Nothing like the brutality of the F82. I loved the DCT and aggressive torque curve.
The X5MC is really the ultimate BMW. It does it all. Daily driver, practicality, space, luxury, fast, etc.. Living in South Florida makes it easier to drive year round. Temperatures rarely get below the 60's so no need for other tires for winter.
