Just Wondering: Traction Control Teenage Fever

Hey Guys!

As I continue my M journey, I've came to the conclusion that unfortunately these F8Xs are becoming more available to young teenagers looking to get spoiled by their "rich parents" (Not so rich as some 2015s are as cheap as 35K).

In the last few weeks, I've pulled along side of some fellow M3s and M4s just to be disappointed...seeing a 5 Foot beardless 17 year old behind the wheel
So here is what I am just wondering about: (Funny & Dangerous at the same time)
These F8X platforms certainly make a lot of power not to mention the capabilities with a flash tune, catless downpipes, E85, etc. The traction control system saves peoples asses when those ponies jump out the stable and get ready to giddy up.

So I was thinking...these young teenagers don't even know what the traction control system does...DOES ANYONE WANT TO SHARE SOME STORIES WHERE....

-A YOUNGSTER PRESSED THE BUTTON "WITH TIRE MARKS" AND CRASHED
-DISENGAGED TRACTION CONTROL IN THE RAIN &...."LOST CONTROL"
-OR ANY OTHER FUNNY STORIES WHERE TEENAGERS ACTED UP AND LOST THEIR PARENTS TRUST

Photos welcomed

**DISCLAIMER** In no way am I ripping on youngsters getting blessed with a 80K car for their success in sophomore year of high school

I mean.. not just teenagers and I'm sure you've seen it already.

Couple years back, a teen took their parent's Murcielago out for a joyride and lost control lol

M3 is nothing when you can get a $50k Camaro with 650 hp these days. 400hp C5 z06 is like 15-20k or something.

There was an Asian exchange student here at Mizzou that was doing burnouts with an M4 with his buddy who had a c63. He stayed in it too long, over corrected and rolled the car. he was fine. He didnt have full coverage so the car was repaired and sold. the repair was terrible though, fender gaps, rep wheels, etc.

another exchange student wrecked his Lotus Evora driving it on backroads after it had snowed. again, just liability insurance

Tires were completely cold and the ground was still wet up shifted from first to second and almost lost it.
I used to floor my car in the rain with traction on and it saves me every time, so I thought it's very safe but I guess not....

I gotta be honest. Every time I see praise for traction control on a car forum I die a little inside.

Why buy a couple hundred horsepower, rear wheel drive sports car if you aren't going to push it a little? Only one way to learn limits! Push them!

EDIT: Soterios is not responsible for limit pushing resulting in your BMW hugging a tree, pole, or other sizable object.

First hand account here:

I was 17 with 1 year of driving experience and had a manual 350z. I was cocky from my suburban drift king skills (this was right after Tokyo Drift came out), and decided to turn off TC getting out of high school main drive and make a left turn onto 4 lane road. Decided to show off a bit, kicked the tail out, panicked, pedal went to the floor, car somehow managed to hop an 8 inch industrial 90 degree curb with ZERO damage to the wheels, and my rear end ended up smacking a tree. In high school "rush hour." Might have been the most embarrassing thing I've ever done in my life.

I never drifted again.

I was a moron with 300hp, a car with 450hp would have been suicide.

Over here its all the canasians\chinese kids with rich parents that are here "studying" that wreck all of the exotics, dont mind seeing natural selection at work to be honest, as long as the only ones hurt are them and not innocent bystanders.

Just the other day I was driving to work and I saw the TC light come on while driving down a straight road at 35 miles an hour. Curiosity struck me and I turned the TC off to see what the conditions were really like. I gave it a little pinch and nearly lost the damn thing on a 5 lane wide road. I can't believe I had driven 3/4 of the way to work without knowing it was that damn slick outside... TC good for keeping you alive, TC bad for letting you know you're in danger...
