Ok I understand this is mostly a Florida issue right now but when the ambient temp is say 74F and you set the temp on 73F in auto mode on the A/C, the system is not engaging the compressor. This is a problem because the sun is cooking the passengers and the humidity provides additional discomfort. The only surefire way to get it to run the compressor is to hit Max AC button and then the compressor will run at all temp settings.

I know the BMW AC has generally sucked in the dozen or so new BMWs we've owned but is this something BMW did on purpose or another of the endless bugs in iDrive 7?

No issues with mine. I was in central Florida for 10 days and the ac certainly came on. I set it to 71 and didn’t touch it.

Mystro I'm happy to hear it's performing as expected for you. Must be something wrong with mine.

Coming from the cold North East, I noticed after a quick rain storm in Florida the ac was blowing dry cool air at 71 degrees.

Check the Menu AC button in the middle, turns the compressor on and off, it will come on in auto mode when I’d rather it not, that’s how I turn it off?

This right here is why this forum is SOOOO helpful. Wifey calls me today (madder than a hornet I might add) - "AC doesn't work!!!!" The whole family immediately hates BMW and everything they stand for.

Right as we're getting ready to throw our afternoon into total disarray, I decide to do a "why not?" search on this forum. I find this thread. Day saved. Hate back to love. Awesome.

Thank you!!

Take the BMW back from her and buy her a new Dodge mini van for $24k. Then your family will know what “hate” really is.

Haven’t had a car with a separate “AC” button in a while. In any case, the button has the “Menu” above the “AC” - my brain saw “AC Menu”, i.e. a button which just accesses the menu for the AC rather than a rocker.

Ha! Yeah - I agree with you. I had a Honda long ago that had the “AC” button as well. It’s actually kind of nice to have again.
