At 10:25 you can actually see the wrinkles. After seeing my seats it is pretty obvious it definitely should have them and is a none issue. Some Pictures seem to be overly excessive. Also the pictures exaggerate wrinkles.

Horrible color accuracy but shows the wrinkles pretty good. This is definitely by design and anyone looking to purchase I wouldn't worry. It actually looks good in person as it adds some style. The pictures DO NOT convey it correctly.
EDIT: So I checked the press release photos and it definitely has a tighter pull on the leather. Looks more like there was a change in the way they do the rear seats, rather than something being wrong. Last edited by bigrobb2; 02-14-2019 at 09:23 PM.. |

BS - which dealer are you using? Would be interested if it was Park Lane.
Would be really interested to see a picture on the basis of what you rejected - was it much worse than my pic on page 10? Robb - they look OK to me, certainly better than most and I would be happy enough (if not overjoyed!). |

i disagree with posters saying pics make the creases look worse, let me assure you, they are as bad as the pics! there is no "uniform" design car to car for the seats, for the "rouche"; which immediately says that this is a design fault... not a design feature, every GO5 i have seen has had differing variants of the "rouche" some which look professionally done, others which look like my 5 year old had a days work experience with the manufacturer and they said "fancy a go at these seats"?? |

Surely if it was designed for the car the front seats would have wrinkles. Like buying a 3 piece suite where the the leather on the setee is wrinkle free and the 2 armchairs have wrinkled leather - ludicrous.

Anyone nervous about the seats I wouldn't worry. Don't let this thread stop you from ordering.
There are are earlier pics in this thread that do look bad but the majority that look like the pictures I posted are absolutely fine. The pictures DO exaggerate the wrinkles as you can tell in real time when taking the picture. For people saying it's not by design I doubt it (except the obviously botched seats). I have yet to see anyone post a picture of their X5 without wrinkles rears. |

This thread continues to surprise me. It is obvious that BMW designed these seats to be more comfortable after numerous complaints that their back seats are very uncomfortable. This is why BMW will roll their eyes at you if you complain about this issue.
If your concerned about the look of the backseats which most of you will never sit in maybe this X5 is not for you? |

I say it's either stylistic, comfort or both. I had Both a 550i and a 335i and the seats were not as soft. Even Land Rover made back seats with "wrinkles". Point is people who are seriously ordering need not worry. Issue is overblown.. Whatever issue they originally had looks to have been sorted out. |

Explaining away what looks like poor design or poor execution by saying it was needed to make the seats comfortable makes no sense to me. Smooth leather seating and comfort are not mutually exclusive, as other manufacturers seem to have managed it (and so has BMW in other products).
Were it a stylistic decision, every vehicle would look more or less the same and, more telling, BMW's promotional materials would clearly show it, perhaps even describe it in glowing terms. Given that the problem is highly variable between X5s and is not present in the official photos, my theory is: just poor execution. |

Just delivered On Valentine's Day. Custom build. Wrinkled seats were one of the minor issues it has but not enough to reject the car. None of our other BMWs have had the issue though.

I wonder if they are using a different seat supplier for the X7.I have watched four videos of X7’s that have just been delivered to US dealers and they all have perfect looking leather on the rear seats.
