We have a 40i fuel consumption thread but none for the 50i. I'm going to post my average consumption here and welcome everyone else to share

I got 12.69mpg on tank 1 but a lot of it was idling figuring out car settings etc so I'm not counting that

First true tank (not counting the time it spent in the shop and or around town) was 18.79mpg. 80% of the driving was highway at 80-85mph, the rest city. So far on this tank I'm getting 15-17mog city which isn't bad. Keep in mind I'm not hammering the throttle yet because of break in.

Below is the historical data since the factory and current tank.

11.4 mpg at about 2400 miles. Probably 80% city and I drive it like it's meant to be driven.

I'll be there with you once I finish break in. My X3 M40i averaged a mere 20mpg per thank vs the 24mpg combined it was supposed to get. Most tanks were sub 20mpg but it was a blast! I'm hoping the 50i proves to be the same way once I open it up. I'm betting mine will get 14mpg on a good tank I don't mind bad fuel economy if the car is fun!

I averaged 19mpg for my last 2 tanks, which were both ~70% highway (due to first long trip). Car has 1400 miles on it. Happy with the mileage, though I wish the gas tank was bigger.

I'm getting 15-15.5mpg city right now, that's not terrible but also not great. It'll improve with time (we also only have 91octane fuel here no 93...) but once I'm able to use Sport+ those numbers will drop

That's a good point. These tanks were mostly cruising in Comfort mode on the highway, though the car was loaded with family and some gear. It's looking to be a great vehicle for long trips.

I got 20mpg hwy driving between 80-85mph over 300 miles so anything is possible. I always drive in Adaptive mode

I realize it's a separate topic, but can I ask what specifically Adaptive mode is monitoring about your driving and what changes it makes? I've done a search on this forum and can't find anything. The user manual says almost nothing.

Thanks you

it blends comfort and sport. Adaptive will adjust your dampers on the fly in miliseconds to changing road conditions same with throttle input. You get power faster and better handling than in just comfort but not quite to true sport if that makes sense

No, Midland unfortunately. I've been out here for 3-4 years now and can't wait to leave. Hopefully I'll relocate to Houston next year depending on how things go.

LONG 2200 mile family road trip. First pic is my wife in Ecco mode. Started trip with 200 miles new on odometer. Still had original delivery gas in tank. I have since only ran Sunoco 93 or Shell 93 in tank.

The second is me. Like driving with a wet sponge on the accelerator pedal but still faster than most family rigs.

I was averaging 9mpg in my Audi S6, so if I get mileage in the 15-20mpg range on a 50i/M50i, I will be very happy. I hope everyone updates once they are past break in period, nice to be able to get a real world idea on fuel consumption.

15 is about what I've been seeing this tank, I'll post my updated mileage when I full up again.

Makes me happy that I'm winning the lowest mpg contest so far. My wife and kids hate when I drive
