From 4Runner to Durango to Explorer to BMW X5

Hello all,

I’ve been in the car market from the beginning of this year, looking to replace my 2007 Toyota 4Runner SR5 with 260K miles on it. 4Runner has no issues and it’s been a great daily driver but it’s time for an upgrade to something sportier and more tech in it. Originally was looking for a Dodge Durango RT and almost bought one from Carmax but the deal didn’t go through. Learned about the Explorer ST and was interested in it. Test drove a 2022 Explorer ST and liked it a lot. Found a private sale on Autotrader but the deal didn’t go through either. Started looking at new ones and was going to buy it from the dealer but there was a stop sale due to 360 degree camera issues. Recall started in May and was only “supposed to take 2 weeks.” I was going back and fourth with dealers trying to see when I could get one and it kept getting delayed. Lost my patience so I expanded my search. Found a 2022 x5 at Carmax and reserved it. Carmax didn’t have all the features listed on the post so I looked up the window sticker and found out it had all the features the ST has and more. I test drove it and fell in love. Purchase it with only 8K miles on it and it was a AZ car so no rust. I never imagined I’d drive an X5 let alone a BMW but I am glad it worked out this way. I absolutely love it, it has all the features from the Explorer ST and way more and isn’t plagued with recalls like the Ford.

Anyone have recommendations for Floor Mats? Looking for something like weathertec that can be easily cleaned.

Congrats! Can’t go wrong with a black X5 it looks great!

You definitely made the right choice. I considered a Durango when I was searching for a new car but I’m glad I landed on the X5.

I have BMW floor mats but that’s only cuz my dealer threw them in when I purchased. I was going to get diamond mats (https://www.diamondcarmats.com/ before my dealer thew the OEM mats in. Worth looking at them although not sure if they’re easy to clean or not.

Thank you, I was originally going for a white one, but the black one was a great price and low mileage so I couldn’t pass up on it. I do love it now and black looks very sharp. Overall I’m very happy with it and glad it worked out this way. I’m new to BMW but loving it. I’ll check out those floor mats. I found some nice ones on Amazon that are this brand called 3W that seemed durable.
