2024 X6 in Skyscraper.
Picked up a new work car a few weeks ago. X6 40i in Skyscraper Grey with Silverstone interior. It drives great, about the perfect blend of comfort and performance for an SUV. Not the biggest fan of iDrive 8 so far, but I'm sure I'll get used to it. In all fairness though, I am very used to iDrive 7 from driving my wife's X7 and my '23 840i.

I picked up mine in BGM last week too. Quick question - do you feel that the cabin is not as well insulated from outside noise as it should be? Specially sitting in the drivers seat with the engine off, I feel like I can hear more of the outside noise than I should be, in a $85k car. Like I can hear people talking near the car almost clearly, as if the doors weren’t closed properly.

It is definitely less insulated than the X7 or 840i. I notice more road and tire noise when driving. Not so much that it’s intrusive, but it is noisier. When I test drove the X5 and X6 the same day, the x6 definitely felt sportier and was noticeably louder. A lot of that could just be the 22 inch summer tires on my X6.

Beautiful car - congrats!
I am thinking of Silverstone as well on an X5 50e. It’s so light and airy. How do you like it so far ? Any concerns at all of long term stains etc since it’s so light? Did you consider the open pore wood option for trim? Thanks! |

So far it is holding up really well. Had a few spills, coffee and soda courtesy of my 15 year old and her friends. Wiped right off with no issues. I find it very comfortable, if not quite as nice as my 840i's Merino. If I was ordering a car today, I would choose the leather for the smell and the extra softness, but I am not unhappy with the Sensafin.
I like the open pore wood, but since I didn't order this car I have the fineline. I like it, my wife has it in her X7. |
