Burble tune

Hey all, I have a 2022 bmw x5 m50i and I was wondering if I can do a burble tune without unlocking the ecu. I heard that the ecu are locked for 2022 and higher. My build date is 12/21 so I’m not sure if mine is locked or unlocked. Anyway, the main question is if I need the ecu unlocked to do a burble tune. Anyone have any answers?

Youll need an femto unlock to get burbles on the car, since you need a femto unlock mind as well just get the car tuned as well. You can go with MHD or BM3 which ever one offers N63tu3 tune and they have burble options on there.

You can only hear factory burbles if you accelerate fast then let go but unlocking the ECU it’ll give you burbles on downshifts, every hard acceleration. Not only that but you can choose how long you want the burbles for. 1sec gives you 2 pops, 3 sec give you like 5-6 pops

The thing is once I unlock the ecu, my warranty will say bye bye. I don’t have any stock burbles that’s why I’m looking to add some. So I need to unlock the ecu in order to add burbles correct?

Correct you need to unlock to get burbles, most of us tune our vehicle after the vehicles warranty expired from factory. But usually if you’re not aggressive on the tuning and going with stage 1 or 2 then vehicle will function as stock not giving you any problems.

I bought a new bmw and once it was at 6k miles I tuned it having the ECU unlocked, now’s at 30k miles without a signal problem, just make sure to do regular maintenance
