I did. And I gotta say it was a huge pain in the ass to deal with ups and customs. Took about a month. $175 in vat fees as well.

Just registered to this site - New to BMW Family. Set up my wife with new X1 about a yr/half ago.LUV the drive.

My turn : trading in MDX for X5 40i Sport. Going with separate winter rims and tires.
I love the look/width of 22's but I worry about "feeling the road" - don't want to feel the road ! Does sport suspension help that?
20's would do me best, I guess, but ... the look is compromised.

Any other advice on what options to get/not get - would be great.
Getting Enhanced pack - considering Excellence since feeling sorry for myself not getting 50i.

Thanks.

You should test drive the different suspensions first, I recommend air suspension.

This is what I did (Canadian X5). I'm glad someone helped point out something and made the change to the 3D Surround View. Having the X5 delivered in April so I can get past the winter giving me more time to look for a Winter Setup. Rim options are slim for us. I went with the air suspension and with the 22".

I went with Excellence + M Sport on 21s, and took delivery with the 20" OEM winter set. I haven't driven the car on the 21s, but with the winter setup and air suspension, the car rides better than anything else I've owned, by a large margin. To me that says it is fundamentally a very smooth riding vehicle, and the difference from 21 to 22 will probably be negligible.

My XC90 was on 22s with air suspension, and was just OK. Without air suspension, the ride quality on the XC90 is bad, jiggling and bumping in a really noticeable way. The BMW is a much more sorted chassis, at least based on my early impressions, so I think you can go with what you like the look of without worrying too much. That said, you will have less sidewall with the 22s, so it will be a bit firmer, and even more risk of wheel damage from potholes and curbs.

Regarding Excellence vs. Enhanced, I took Excellence just because I needed a car and that was what they had in a colour that I liked. However, I am glad to have the softer merino leather, leather dash and vented / massaging seats, and the sky lounge roof improves the cabin ambience. Is it worth the extra? In the sense that it all makes the car feel a bit more special, I'd say yes. From a hard-nosed financial perspective, probably not. As X54TH notes, make sure you get 5DN not 5DM.

The H/K sound is pretty crappy. Better than the uber lame "Ultra High Fidelity" Tesla system, but not in the same league as the B&W system I had in the Volvo. If I was ordering a vehicle, I'd get the B&W, even though I doubt it's any better than the Volvo version, yet is $1,500 more.

I have the Enhanced M Sport on 22's with Adaptive M Suspension (no air). The ride quality is superb in comfort mode, you would never guess it was on 22's. I test drove a G05 w/ air suspension and it handled corners like a boat - equivalent to the XC90 w/air. I agree both G05 suspension setups are more refined over bumps and such than my old 16' XC90, but if you want any hint of sportiness (which I did this go round) then go with the adaptive M suspension, because put it into sport or sport+ mode and it stiffens up like you wouldn't believe.

Leather dash is a must, as well as ventilated seats. I skipped on the merino leather seats(sort of regret it, but nothing to cry about). The H/K sound system does suck after having the B/W system in my Volvo for the last 3 years as aspiring335 also noted. I added the ambient air package as well.

Keep in mind with both the 21" or 22" wheel options, the tires are NOT run-flats, and there is no spare tire option in Canada. You will get a compressor and a can of gunk, that is all... a bit worrisome if you ever travel to more rural areas. Also, no remote start function in Canada, unlike our American neighbors.

Does anyone know what's the torque for the wheel studs? I'm about to install my winter wheel setup and couldn't find out what the recommended torque settings are?

Simply amazing. I am shocked how quiet they are. I never felt confident with all season tires and these delivered in the snow.
