Personally I really value a sporting driving feel so the Cayenne would be the only mid-size CUV I'd consider. But even then it is a bit common and ordinary looking. For all out sex appeal, the RR Sport is top dog.
All of THIS.

That is generally my mindset for the past 15yrs.
We did it with our current X5 and my then 750 (which has been paid off for nearly 7 or 8yrs).
Just a quick FYI... We will be leasing it through our Business as a company vehicle and receiving nice write offs, including the payments.

Very true. Having owned this nicely equipped 50i xDrive for a few years now, we have both thoroughly enjoyed it. But it is waaaaaaay too common now. Mostly V6 models. The RR still has that "uniqness and presence" that sets it apart from a crowd no question.
As an owner, I clearly see why and how BMW has probably the best in it's class, luxury mid size SAV.

RR Sport

I agree with you....the RR Sport looks better than the big RR. I have seen the new one a couple of times on the road and looks EXACTLY the same as previous model. This new RR Sport looks more sleek...congrats hope you get it!

If lease and dump and you don’t mind the inconvenience of dealer trips for warranty repairs, go for it.

I would go with a Cayenne at that price point.

Uhhhhm... No way.

Definitely not my style in any aspect. I'm sure it's rock solid. But I have to enjoy looking at a vehicle to even consider buying it.

I'm a White car guy. But lately I've been attracted to various shades of grey.
But both she and I love this particular red. It has orange Hughes in sunlight.
Interior is attractive, modern and user friendly without clutter.

Go for it, the new Range Rover Sport is gorgeous. I sat in the full-size RR and its excellent, really love what they did with the design, including the subtle design details like how the windows meets the metal on the doors without trim pieces.

I knew you would pay attention to the details.
I also love the flush door handles that pop out when opening. I read it has a coefficient drag of just 0.29

make sure you get the longest warranty that you can and make sure you dump it before warranty expires

that's all

(had a mate that worked in Merc + LR. wife told me when she was drunk - don't buy LR they break all the time, buy a Merc from hubby they're good)

well if you know a thing or two about Mercs ... coz my other mates have Mercs too ...

The F Sport trim looks much better and I love the fact that this thing looks and drives like a proper SUV. It’s for people who love the 4Runner but want more of everything.

Better, but still a big in your face grill. F-Sport also robs you of the better interior selections, pretty much stuck with boring black, or red. That being said, LX doesn't work OP's size requirements, as that's much bigger than the mid-size class of car, and closer to the full-size RR.

The LX is marginally longer (5 in) but is also narrower and has a shorter wheelbase. Anyway, I was told vehicle size does not matter if you live in TX. Both vehicles are priced similarly. My personal choice would be the Lexus and that's pretty much all I'm trying to convey.

I would also consider the GLE580 with that sweet biturbo V8. Sadly, the GLE580 is extremely difficult to come by.

I love Firenze Red. That's exactly how I'd spec it.

White is really nice on Ranges, but it's also pretty common. Reds or blues are distinctive.

MB 167 platform looks nice but is riddled with problems. I wouldn’t touch it with a 10ft/3m pole. 48V system has been a fail and the V8 seems to be developing a reputation for rear main seal leak at <100k miles. Hard no if thinking about owning out of warranty.

If lease/dump the MB could be ok, if trips to the dealer with no loaner is acceptable.
