XM Roady Installation Questions
I just bought the wife a new 325i for Christmas. It has the standard stereo and sat prep. I have an XM Roady that I removed from her previous car and would like to install it if it isn't too much trouble. I've looked through numerous postings but haven't been able to find answers to my questions. Here they are:
1. Can the Sirius antenna in the shark fin be made to work with XM? If so, can I simply splice into the cable at some convenient spot (where?)? 2. I have an optional adapter that connects between a standard radio antenna cable and a head unit that improves the reception of the Roady's signal. Does the E90 have a standard antenna connection at the head unit just like any other radio? 3. I was thinking of replacing the ashtray with the sunglass holder and placing the Roady in it. If I do this, is there any reason why I can't use the pigtail going to the unused cig lighter as my power source? I know the best solution is to buy the Sirius unit from the dealer. I may do that for her birthday next summer. But right now, we have 3 cars with XM and I'd prefer to stay with it. Great forum!!! Thanks for any help you're able to give. Steve |
