Max width and offset for Xdrive40i

What are people going with for aftermarket wheel specs on the x40i MSport?

Staggered setup
Width
Offset?

Also, what is the max you can go with the width and offset on 21" and 22" wheels?

I'm interested on this as well and have no experience. I really like what dubsesd did with his, i.e., without spacers. Without lowering the car would an offset from the current 22" staggered BMW setup and adjusting it by like 12/15 mm (per recommended spacers in one thread here) a good start? I know there's no substitute for actually measuring the dimensions. It would be nice to know how to properly do the measurements. I also understand why others would not recommend their actual offsets.

The website below has a program that will calculate the exact position of the new wheels by entering the new figures. The spoke design of the wheel can have an Impact though.
I only have about 15 mm clearance between my M sport brake blue calliper and the spoke on my 22 inch wheels on the front. The rear has lots of room. I’m looking at 20x9 winter set up and need a offset of 35 or less if i do not want to use spacers. It does limit your choice of wheels but if you want to fit 15mm spacers then your choice of 3rd party wheels is huge.

That's a great site. I've always used the calculator on 1010tires, the one you shared is nice because it'll account for different tire width too.

What sort of look are you after? Personally I like as wide as possible with wheels flush, and don't mind a bit of tire stretch. Definitely don't want any rubbing.
My current car I was able to go from 9.5" rear to 11" and from a 285 to a 315 because there was a lot of room back there. I don't have the X5 yet so haven't looked to see what's possible.

For people looking for a conservative increase in width, below are stock wheel specs and what would give almost the same inner wheel clearance from suspension as stock, while being a half inch wider wheel and closer to the fender. (Basically the same as adding a 13mm spacer) It would work the same for both 21" or 22"

I don't know that wheels in these exact offsets are available without going custom, haven't seen much of anything in an 11"wide 21" or 22" wheel with the correct bolt pattern.
