I also notice that the Camera view center control display changes to forward when I change gear from R to D, so looks like that issue has been fixed. Looks like BMW are finally getting their stuff together, 1 year and 4-months since the G05 was released - better late then never I guess. All they gotta do is get OTA S/W updates going, and we're almost there ! |

James_G0530d thanks for the update! I have a feeling OTAs are around the corner...being it's the end of the year, and the minor tweaks here and there. They're teasing me with notifications! I keep getting a notification from BMW FS that my bill is ready since I have my account tied to Apple Wallet. It gets me every single time.

Can you please take a short clear video demonstrating what you do and how it works. I'll aim to do the same. There are so many permutations of rational, irrational, and buggy behaviours with camera view selection that one can't make a blanket statement and have it be clear.

07/2019.63 was the version installed when I took delivery on 12/13. Surprisingly no issues.
Definitely looking forward to OTA. LexxM3 thanks for starting new iDrive in this forum. Tracking and finding threads of previous versions in the main gets lost.

Basically when I reverse (gear in R), I can see the rear view from the camera in the boot tailgate. When I immediately put it in D, the front view shows. To me this is just the natural intuitive behavior you'd expect as you change gears and therefore drive direction. I will take a shot and report back, that's how I remember it working on Saturday and Sunday. |

And while I think I understand what you're describing and yes, of course, it makes perfect sense as to how it should work, none of that has anything to do with BMW design or QA practices at all. By the way, if it does turn out that your and mine behave differently, besides the slight variance in versions, it may come down to country-specific coding (I would guess an accidental difference). If then you can send me your FA, SVT, and all NCD files, I can try to see if I can find a difference. I have not yet found anything clear against my own working 3/2019.45 files, but still looking.

Just FIY, the R-D rear-front camera auto-switch always worked for me (I'm on 07 still but it worked on 03's too). Even perfectly stopped etc, it never failed. I wonder if there is a 'mode' that has to be set for it to work, and you might have it disabled somehow?
Kinda like the 'auto dipping passenger mirror' that only works if the control switch is in the set to the driver mirror?

Here are my "from P to R sequence" R/D camera switching bugs videos. 2019 BMW G05 X5 on 11/2019.40 aka S18A-19-11-540 software. Canadian configuration, build date April 2019. Sorry for the dust.
Bug 20191216-01: Does not switch to forward camera when placed in Drive (at low speed!): Bug 20191216-02: Does not switch to forward camera when placed in Drive at low speed, BUT then switches to forward camera as one drives a few 10s of meters or higher speed! BMW's got some real idiots working on its user-facing UX, software, and QA.

OK, here's my P > D > R > D sequence:
Pic 1 = Car put into D in my garage. As my garage is a confined space, it switches the Front camera on. I moved forward around 2 metres, then stopped. Pic 2 = Car put back into R, and as expected I got the Rear view. Pic 3 = Car put back into D, and it reverts back to the Front Camera view. Of course the front view disappeared when I fully came out of my driveway and got up to around 15-20kph. So looks like 11/2019.34 has got it right. I tried the same thing when I arrived at work this morn, and the camera behaved the same way in the car park. |

Not sure if it was already mentioned on here, since it's quite the thread...but for your Spotify people, you have it as it's own source when selection your media source. There's another option called "connected audio" or something like that...not sure if anyone knows what that is.
