Assisted Driver View

Anyone know if you can code the Assisted Driver View on G05? If so can it be done in Bimmercode app?

Awesome, thanks. Have you tested it? And was just it the iOS app?

I have not done it but quite a few on here successfully have. I think it is available in iOS and Android.

Yes it works with the BimmerCode app. If you follow the thread above you'll find that the settings are only available in expert mode.

Thanks, hopefully someone will reply that's done it. I have the iPhone App, but not sure how to get it done

Did it today...
You need the adapter and the app.
From the app go to bdc control and then expert mode.
After that just follow the above thread

What options does your X5 need to have installed from factory for this to work correctly?

OP, if you haven't even tried anything yet you can start by reading on the app's quick start guide.

https://www.bimmercode.app/quick-start-guide/

I'd start by coding ASS (Auto Start/Stop) which doesn't require coding in expert mode. If you get to that point you should be at least 90% ready to coding ADV.

I'm pretty new to coding myself and with this app I found the process to be simple enough to follow.

Thanks eagle, I coded ASS yesterday successfully so your feedback is perfect and very appreciated!

Coded ADV yesterday and it worked great. The PIA was missing and still worked. Not sure what the PIA is, but happy it worked. Thanks TurtleBoy and LexxM3 for the help

Great! My car has the July 2019 software update and didn't have the PIA setting as well.

I'm not 100% but think the PIA coding option is profile related, so it shouldn't be an issue not having it. Maybe some different behaviour if you have more than 1 profile on the car, but I'm speculating.

BMW included the 4 options as a bundle when retrofitting ADV in the Japanese market, so I included all 4 in the published ADV coding.

I do have 1 profile only so you may be right. I'll keep this in mind when I add my wife's back.

ADV after coding

So far the ADV works great and I only have one profile so haven't noticed anything off. While in ADV, I have noticed that the blind spot indicator lights on the side mirrors act a little funny. They work, but when I am passing someone in ADV, they don't turn on most of the time. However, when a car is passing me, they will come in while in ADV. Not sure if this was the same before coding, but don't think so.

It was the same before coding (but obviously easy to verify by turning off ADV or coding back to stock values) and is intentional. The theory is that when you're passing someone, you know they are there (ie they are not in your blind spot).

Thanks. Did you experience changes with the comfort access too? After coding, it seems to miss auto locking or unlocking from time to time? Not sure how that could be affected, but has happened a few times some coding.

ADV is not bad and I definitely like it (except that it needs my attention diverted to the cockpit to notice who is/what is around me (and praise tech!) and keep looking to it and paying attention to it).

I am a fan of HUD (don't know why TESLAS don't have it?1). It is definitely recommended not only a driver to have it in front of his windshield with the info specific to the driver but also for the passenger seat to have different info displayed there (probably a good idea for BMW?)). I wish if my whole cars's windows had a some kind of HUDs respectively.

Back to the point, ADV is great and it should be in a visible area to the whole car to extend this safety concept.

Completely agree. Naturally-delivered 360 degree situational awareness at all times should be the goal. I've wanted this my entire driving life, this is 50% of the way there.

I think PIA relates to profile settings, so sets the configuration of a parameter to a specific setting. It can be overriden in idrive manually.

There are default PIA masks in HU_MGU and SAS that configure what the default driver assistance settings look like. Modify these and each new profile starts with a different set of settings.

So not really needed, and I only included them in the original ADV coding for completeness.
