Quick question: for the 2019 xdrive 40i do I need 6.5 litres of oil or 7.2? I read somewhere that if it is a xdrive (all wheel drive) then you need 7.2 litres. Is that accurate?

When I changed my oil and filter on my 2023 xDrive 4.0, it took 6.5 quarts (=6.2 liters) to show full on the oil-check display. Perhaps it's 7.2 liters for a dry engine from the factory?

Also, what is the best way to bring the oil to a warm temperature like others have mentioned which makes it easier for the oil to flow? Previously on all the cars that I have done it, it has always been on a cold engine, so just trying to figure out if I should drive for a mile and then do it or I should just let the engine run for about 10 minutes or 15 minutes and then do it or what is the best way to bring it up to the best temperature before changing the oil?

I just changed my X5's oil for the second time. This time I added 6 quarts after draining it and changing the filter, and the on-board display still showed it was at the full level when I checked. My conclusion is that there's a pretty wide range where the car will still show the oil as full - probably so people don't come back to the dealer after an oil change looking for a top-off when it's not reading 100% full. Ah, how I miss a real dip-stick!

See post 12! It's a link to an oil change how-to for the X7, but it's basically the same for our G05 X5 - same engine, same oil filter location, etc.

Is there an online source for OE/OEM oil filters you folks use on the G05's? I've done a lot of my own service work on my Porsche's and typically use Pelican Parts or FCP Euro but I don't see the newer 2024 parts on there. Is there a dealership (online) store that doesn't charge full dealership prices?
Even GetBMWParts.com doesn't have much of anything listed for a 2024.... I have a G05 in production now but will be doing an early oil service around 3k miles (and want to use OE parts).
