How long does Production Take?

My M50i is scheduled for production completion on September 12. Here it is 3.15 pm Spartanburg time on the 11th, and it still is in Production Begins. I was expecting that it might have entered the Exterior Body Assembly Begins stage, but nope. So, how long do all these other steps take? Seems like a lot to accomplish in a small amount of time...

Call 800-831-1117 for updated production date. In my case production started and assembly completed on that date. 3 days later my car arrived at the east coast dealership.

production seems to vary significantly based on when you order, as well as the options you get. I have an X5 on order as well as an M340i, both have individual options. I ordered the X5 on 8/23, and i'm getting a build week of 41 (week of 10/7). The m340i I ordered on 9/6 and it has a scheduled completion time of 9/20.

The length of time you order spends in Product Begins is indeterminate. Your build doesn't enter the actual production line until all the pieces need to build your car are available.

My understanding of how the build process works are here:

Yeah, from your linked post, the time on the assembly line is usually 2 days. Hence why I was a bit concerned why my vehicle hadn't entered the assembly line yesterday. Then today they rescheduled the expected completion date to 16 September. Bummer.

Of course, my lease on my 7 doesn't end until Oct. 24...

Ordered mine on 8/23 with one individual option (full leather). Still nothing other than "order received".

I ordered mine on the same day (40i) with individual options and same issue, still showing "order received". Do you have a build week? Mine is week 41.

Funny thing is I ordered an M340i 2 weeks later (9/6) and it also has individual options, and that's already in "production begins" status with an estimated completion date of 9/20. Not sure why the X5's are taking so long.

My car started production today. Estimated completion is 9/21, so 9 days if true.

As of today, both of mine have taken 78 days since initial order. One is still in Quality Check, one left the factory yesterday.

Entering Assembly usually only lasts a day to two. Unfortunately, the other states don't have a fixed time.

Once it's out of Entering Assembly, check with your dealer. He might be able to give you a better idea of when it will be completed. Mine seemed to be stuck in one of the states after Entering Assembly but before Waiting For Transport when my dealer called to say my car was loaded on a truck and would be at the dealer in a day or so.
