Tried updating apps and services, it times out and fails.

Thanks for the tips. Guess the next thing to try is deleting my profile and starting over. But going to wait until Monday after I've chatted with the Genius hotline before doing any of that.
They just didn't remove the extra 5. The naming that BMW and the dealers use for ISTA has that leading 5 in it.

I spoke too quickly, sorry. Somewhere during the first trip I made after reinstalling the app it sent notice that the upgrade had completed. Data privacy no longer greyed out (All services still selected, as before the upgrade) and updating apps and services is working again. Only thing lost is the trip data and charging sessions from between the upgrade and when it started working again. Not sure if reinstalling the app fixed it or if it just decided on its own to start working again, but all seems well now.

Anyone notice any worth while improvements? I'm curious what that 'Improved turbocharger control' means. I've been sitting on the update for over a week.. I didn't want to be the first

I was curious about the turbo as well. I’m hoping it means faster. But how will I ever find out, my download, which I completed a week ago, still hasn’t been applied.

have you read the release notes? it explains it in there, but in a nutshell, it’s not faster

Last year I coded for the touchscreen I installed and got it to work. Then about a month ago the remote update took place and I lost the feature.

Does anyone know if I can use the same setup as last year to do this? I followed the instructions here and on YouTube which were based on a PsdzData lite file that was current at the time. There are newer versions of the data file around but I can't find a source for a simple free download.

Yes, you will need to do the same coding. Your VO coding likely is still there but check it. I saw someone post last week that the latest file was available on Bimmerfest.

Yes. You should be able to use the same coding as before to restore your settings. If you know what you changed, should be pretty easy.

I will also send you a PM.

Sorry if this question has been asked previously. I don’t want to pay to have my coding redone so can I ignore this update?

You're never required or forced to upgrade (unless the dealer does it w/o asking). The easiest way to prevent being prompted is to uncheck Remote Software Upgrade under your Settings > General > Data Privacy.

As far as paying for coding, you may want to consider buying a cheap ethernet adapter/cable for coding and do a one time purchase of Bimmer Utility. It allows you to backup your coding and restore. Alternatively, if you have BimmerCode (phone app) and ever connected to the vehicle after it was coded, you can easily restore the backup files for each module that was coded and not fuss around with E-Sys and psdzdata files. I did that a few times on my wife's X7 after I retrofitted trailer package and the updates kept wiping my coding for the kick to open.

Unless something has changed the advice I have seen has always been to never restore coding after an update since things have changed and problems can occur if you restore, should always recode.

All the reason to wait and not download it see what others say before and see if there’s any bugs I keep mine turned off. I don’t know how to do any updates for at least a month afterwards to make sure nobody’s having any services issues to be towed on your phone turn off automatic updates

Note that by the time an OTA update gets pushed to people, it's already at least one version older than what's available at the dealerships...IOW, it's already been in service for new vehicles coming off the assembly line, and any that were updated at the dealership for other reasons.

So I was one of the first to have the update sent to my vehicle, since then I’ve been waiting for it to install. Which seems like insanity to me but anyways today I got this message-STILL WAITING.

Edit-might take more than 30 minutes I just took her out for a RUN. Haha.

Some U11 X1 owners were notified a couple weeks ago the 11/22 update is available via RSU for their X1s. I know they're on iDrive 8, but still this sucks. Some G05s have still yet to receive the 07/22 update, others can't get it to finish installing at all, and others (me) just go notified a couple weeks ago for it.

Yes, it is applicable to all iDrive 7, and 8, vehicles.

I'm still sitting at 11/2021.50 version with no pending update available. It says my 2021 X5 is "up to date" on My BMW app. I have remote upgrade over wifi enabled and my car sits where it has great signal. Does full rollout take months? No way to speed it up other than request at dealer? I'd like to get some coding done but am waiting until after the next OTA update. Thanks

The roll-out of an OTA update does take months. There's no way to speed it up. It's unlike say an iOS update or WIN that typically is open for anyone to download it...in the case of the BMW, when your VIN hits the lottery (it seems, only BMW knows the order of preference), it will show up.

BMW has a policy on when the dealer can get paid to update you in their shop, and generally, it takes a service problem it's supposed to fix rather than just a request from the customer. In some cases, there could be some issue in your vehicle that makes it ineligible for an OTA update. That happened to me, they fixed it, and the next OTA update happened just fine.
