I will be putting aftermarket 22" wheels on my 50e(air suspension) with the following tires with no concerns:
Front: 285/40 R22
Rear: 325/35 R22

Also, see my post here: https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...41&postcount=8
Yeah, sorry air suspension

I looked at a couple those links. Very interesting. Man those are some massive tires. Not sure if any of those were 285 and 325. Do share pics of yours when equipped please.

Old tires to new tires, of course, there are some improvements.
That said, what I’ve observed so far is ride height has increased to a more comfortable stance for me, I still feel in control and safe, I’ve become unhealthily paranoid of unsafe ride height etc., brakes happy because of new tires, ride is much smoother numbing the bumps a bit and quiet ( I know we don’t go with Adaptive M for a soft cushion) but that’s what I want a little bit of in life right now, not feeling so much of the shift, sway and jerkiness so much as I felt before while making turns.
Power delivery to the road indeed feels a bit different although, I’m not pushing so much; not driving aggressively. It’s comfortable.
Now, as to aesthetics it does look and feel slightly taller. The tires are msssive! It’s given me a new perspective on the vehicle. I do think I will replace the wheels with something a little more simple.
I may want to equip a roof rack and roof box for road trips in the near future.
Have a look
Great write up.

Do you have air suspension or is your X5 at its normal ride height?

Thanks.
I have Adaptive M Suspension.

After a year and a half with G05, I realize the right one for me, considering my desire for softer ride quality, easy relaxed driving and more of a utility-esque aesthetic I would go for a x-Line (Non M Sport). The main reason I went with M Sport was sport front end appearance and M Steering wheel. All things considered and especially now with these tires I am very happy with the vehicle. I think it’s everything now. As soon as this hell fire weather goes away I’ll take some better photos and share

Ok cool, not air suspension then.

Just trying to get a better idea of how much space the bigger tires take up in the wheel well.

Thanks.

Anxiously awaiting seeing more pics of this size on 741M wheels. Honestly, do the higher ratios take away from the sporty looks?

Hey, not quite yet but it's getting close. I pick up the X5 next week, performance center delivery.

The delivery date of the new wheels that those tires will be going on is still TBD but hopefully sometime in Dec.

I'll post pics eventually.

I am running same set up on 741M wheels. Michelin Primacy Tour All Season 275/45/21 and 315/40/21
I’ve really liked it. No problems so far. There is a difference of 0.1” in diameter between these tires. Just FYI.

Based on my experience. If one drives like a normal human, 30K out of the Pirellis is not far fetched. A lot of folks here want to drive the X5 like an M5 for some reason.

mmmm I'm between either getting new 22' wheels so I can use 285/40/22 & 325/35/22 or the 45/40 on the 741 oem wheels with Continentals sportcontact. But not sure how it will look on that +5 45/40.
I love the look on my settup on the side but not so much on other angles, like from the rear these pireli 315 looks like 250 lol, not sure why.

Day 3 on these new tires. Feels softer and a lot quieter than OEM Conti RFTs

I got yet another nail in my tire. I had a nail in my rear left a couple month Ms ago for which I had to replace the tire and now I have a nail in my rear right that I’m sitting here getting patched at Discount Tire.

Recall, I have the higher aspect ratio on mine.
275/45 front and 315/40 rear.
I’m not going by the door panel / original equip PSI recommendation. On both, the front and rear, it says max psi 51.
PSI - what do you guys recommend?

I just checked Costco. Price seems good. Have 17,000 miles on the original run flats. Just like the ones I had in 2016 they are loud.
I plan on going to the Michelins. my previous x5 was continental all seasons after the run flats. So much nicer.

I’m not sure what wheel/tire size you have but Costco won’t install non-OEM tires on your vehicle. I got mine installed at discount tire.

Yeah - costco won’t even sell you non-OEM tires let alone install them. You’ll have to find a shop like tire rack or americas tire or something.
