Anyone experience the awd system feels like it "skip" when doing slow u turn?
I've only noticed this recently when the ground is wet and I have the steering wheel turned near or at max moving very slowly. (eg. pulling out of a tight spot or doing a tight uturn at idle speed) It feels like the awd system skips or the wheels do for a split second. I've felt this before with a old subaru awd car whenever trying to do a tight u turn.
I think i only feel it when the ground is wet because it allows more slippage that wouldn't normally happen in the dry. I know it doesn't make sense but its hard to explain without actually feeling it. Never noticed my previous awd bmw's doing this before. Car is a 2020 X5MC. Alan

Interesting. I'm glad I wasn't the only one. I don't notice it all the time and it only seems to happen when the ground is wet so never paid any special attention to it. The first few times I felt it its usually pulling out of my driveway where I have to come off a curb then cut the steering wheel all the way to the right. It almost feels like one of the front wheels rolled over a small twig or something so didn't think anything of it. With the recent rainy weather stretch we've been having in NY i've noticed it more.
Never noticed my F85 doing this. Wondering if BMW tuned the diffs in the F95 more aggressively... Alan

With all this rain we’ve been getting I was able to test it again today. In the rain with the steering wheel at max turn either direction I will feel this “skip”. The longer the U turn the more times I’ll feel it. Looked up videos recommended by another member on “Mercedes crabbing” and seems like they have something similar but way way more noticeable.

Well documented on the Merc forums, I had it on the E63. I also had it on the Panamera, again an all wheel drive. It occurs when the temprature is low. I fitted all season tyres on the Panamera to cure it

Normal on the M diffs.
Experience the same thing on my X3MC.

Funny I've been noticing this in my RRS and I ran into this article (researching X5MC for my next car). I'm glad someone mentioned this and it's normal. Cheers.
