Trying to choose winter rims
So my first choice of rims got sold out AFTER I placed an order for them... which can now not be completed.
Anyway, I'm looking for thoughts on the following choices instead. What do you think... first, second or third? #1 is 20x9 et 35 #2 is 20x9 et 35 #3 is 20x9 et 38 or 27 (27 may not be desirable for winter though.) #4 is 66.5 hub... so I don't think it will work, but I really like it. I think the middle one will be PIA to clean in winter. Those close spokes tend to hold the snow between the spokes and cause vibration if you don't clean it off.

Hadn’t thought of that, thanks. The middle ones are the 742 reps. I love the look, but they are also the longest wait to get.

I could go with #2,3 and 4. Don't really care for #1

Just found a new challenger: Apparently this one is available in matte black powder coat with dark tint, whatever that actually means:
Too rounded? Thoughts? Please? |

I like that style. Looks close to the Drago from Schmidt wheels which are quite famous.

They are all nice wheels. Ultimately it has to be your decision and personal taste. You are the one who is going to live with them. Your going to get a wide vary of opinions on the forum, again based on their personal taste. All I can offer is my personal experience with winter wheels in Southern Ontario. Open spoke design IMO work better for ease of cleaning in winter. Matte can be a nightmare in winter with all the salt and brine on the road, they tend to stain and not be as durable as non matte finishes. However, if you are someone who likes to wash and maintain your vehicle in the winter it may not matter then go with whatever you want. I would recommend ceramic coating the wheels first including the matte black if that is what you decide. It may add a slight sheen ( they do have ceramic coating for matte as well) but they will be easier to keep clean and from from potential staining. I had 3 piece custom made 22" summer wheels with gloss gunmetal lips, black gloss inner barrel and matte black spoke centers. The matte black centers looked awesome but where a nightmare to clean, stained easily even from using the wrong soap. I tend to be OCD with washing and detailing. Fixed it by ceramic coating, added a slight sheen so they went from matte to slight satin.
So go with your gut and what you feel meets your needs and taste. You may have to compromise a bit, but in the end you need to be happy.

Thanks Denaliman. I was thinking of doing ceramic: I got the car and summer wheels done by the shop that did my ppf, and it works great for helping wheels stay clean. Is there a ceramic you can recommend for doing these myself (and that is available in Ontario?) Thanks!
