X5 45e Towing a Camper

Does anyone have experience towing with the X5 PHEV? I have a 4,500lb, 450 tongue 23ft camper.

I'd have to ask but what does the manual say about towing? It should list numbers in there to give you an idea.

There is 45e owner showing his experience in the towing thread. He was pulling more than your configuration.

As long as you don't exceed the vehicle's capacity, the torque of the electric motor and the robustness of the I6, throw in the weight of the thing with the majority down low, and the two axle air suspension, it should pull easily. The logic for stability that's activated when you plug the trailer in should help as well.

I'm still not sure how easy it is to incorporate the required trailer brakes when the weight exceeds a certain level. Some say the plug to install a controller is there hidden under the dash, but I've not looked for it. The easy alternative is to use a wireless controller.
