Delayed Delivery: STOP025022

Hi,

So my 50e has arrived at the dealer but delivery is delayed due to an active recall and dealer isn't being so forthcoming with the actual details apart from it's a minor issue and should be sorted sooner rather than later. Im in the UK fyi.

I checked the VIN on the BMW German site and get the below, anyone know what "STOP025022" relates to?

"There is an open technical improvement to this vehicle. Please book an appointment online for your vehicle here by selecting “service as needed” or contact your local BMW service partner here for further information. improvement code: STOP025022"

Thanks !

So far we have not seen the details on it. I would think they are in the notice sent to dealers but so far no word have leaked out.

When was you car manufactured? Mine had a Production date of 28 July 2023. Still in transit and just checked official BMW site for recall and saw that car has a STOP025022. Therefore will not be delivered until is fixed.
Looking to see how large the issue is (how many cars are affected). Based on the impact, BMW might speed-up for a resolution.

Same issue with delivery of my X5

My dealer says it's a Certificate of Conformity issue, nothing wrong with the car and there are 200 similar cases with various models from Spartanburg.

My real issue is they can't/won't tell me what the issue is and won't/can't give me a timeline.

Car is X5 50e, it's at the dealer, I have sat in it but can't drive it.

Frustration is growing...

I can imagine.
It might take some days until they will receive directions to fix it.

Don' get the same tracking in the UK as elsewhere but know VIN was assigned start as August so assume production date around that timeframe.

Certificate of Conformity doesn't sound so invasive but let's see !

No it doesn't, you're right, the dealer has promised me a screenshot of the factory's response to their 'master technician's request for more information, I'll see what that says assuming I get it.

'Regional Office is dealing with a large number of cases like this one' said the dealer, will take a couple more days for the certificate to be sent through BMW's parts distribution to the dealer.

Hope they're right.

Thats very helpful. I was literally setting off to pick up car on Monday, it was waiting in delivery bay. Got a phone call from dealer to say that STOP delivery had just been sent out. Been waiting since then to find out what’s going on. If i understand this correctly the dealers are waiting for a hard copy of Conformity Certificate to come from Munich. Once in their hands they can release the cars. I find it very hard to believe that they are waiting for hard copy rather than email!!!! Does anyone else have any more insight?

Latest update i have. The issue seems to be paperwork rather than fault with car. Apparently the dealer has the certificate of conformity for the X5, but there seems to be an issue with it. Possibly incorrect information printed on it …..CO2 readings?? Everyone waiting for BMW to establish if a new one needs to be issued. Meanwhile the cars just sit at the dealers. They cant be released to customers until resolved. Interested to hear if anyone has heard more.

This is entirely consistent with what my dealer is telling me and they don't know what the issue with the CoC is.
It seems very 1990s that we have to wait for a hard copy, it would be easier, quicker and to the most important point Better Customer Service to expedite what sounds like a simple problem to solve.
Latest update is it'll be solved in 'a few days'.

Hi. I have the same stop025022 (UK). Was due to collect the car (50e) last Thursday morning and had the call on Wednesday afternoon. The car is parked at the dealers (looking fabulous), majority paid for as it was less than 24hrs before collection and insured. Getting the same (lack) of info coming out of BMW HQ as you are - it’s a COC issue with the DVLA - no timeline, but ‘it shouldn’t be long’. Getting frustrated - can’t get through to a person in the DVLA, BMW genius and complaints dept give no additional info. The dealer indicated the stop affects all US manufactured X models (at minimum), surely this is a big deal for BMW, over 20 cars stuck at our dealer alone??!! Please keep posted on any updates you hear and I’ll do the same!

Latest from my dealer is they may hear what the issue is hopefully by end of this week! Then how long for a resolution no one knows. I was told last Monday that it be a day or so. It is now over a week and looking at least two weeks. Everyone keeps saying it’s paperwork and should be a quick fix. Hard to believe that over a week after the stop implemented no one knows what the issue is and timeline for resolution.

Thanks for the update. Sounds like no one has a clue, which is incredible - why is it such a secret??

Dealer confirmed today is a COC issue and are expecting an update for BMW UK by the end of week, last week they said a "few days".

Very frustrating.

My dealer told me there's a 'campaign' to get all these COC issues sorted out, no more than that... after a week. And still nothing on what the actual problem is with the COC.
I have no complaints about the dealer, the two guys I deal with there feel terrible about what has happened. I wonder if anyone else in BMW cares about this (long standing) customer.
Breaking news - checking my vin on https://www.bmw.at/de/footer/quick-l...-aktionen.html I now get 0099400200, STOP025022

I have a feeling that's not good news...

On checking this morning we also have changed to 0099400200, but no longer the stop code…! Call to our dealer going in as soon as they open (though expectations remain low…)

Update - it IS an updated hard copy of the COC that’s required, an error in one of the fields. Ours has been ordered this morning, once it arrives it can be processed and the stop removed. Fingers (& everything) crossed Monday morning car collection (tbc tomorrow)….
Impatient weekend ahead!

Same here! Not confirmed yet for Monday, I've booked time off Tuesday morning so we're having a similar, impatient weekend.
Got to say, BMW has not covered itself in glory over this issue.

Mine no longer has the STOP025022 but still has the improvement code - 0099400200.
Still in transit, expected to be received at the dealer next week.
Suppose that this improvement does not prevent sell of the car.
Anyone knows what exactly is this improvement? I don't this it is related to CoC as this was linked to STOP025022.

If anyone solved this issue and discussed with the dealer, it will be highly appreciated the feed-back received from dealer.

Solved - it was the CoC, on the German checker site - https://www.bmw.at/de/footer/quick-l...-aktionen.html - my car showed green, 'no outstanding recalls or technical issues' (translation).
I had the same stop code and the same improvement code so on the face of it you'll have the same outcome as me...

Car is booked in for Monday, 3pm pickup!

Still don't think BMW handled this well, but good result, eventually.
