Walked by an Audi?

So first of all I do not usually involve in excessive speeding and do not condone this type of behavior, but my wife and I were going for a little road trip and I couldn't resist a bit of mischief. We were on i95 stuck behind a few slowpokes, and there was this mid 00's Audi A6 or maybe S6, I didn't get a good look. We broke free from the slowpokes, I was right behind the Audi at about 80mph, and I was going full WOT, and I wasn't gaining on him at all. At about 110 he started slowly pulling away while I was still WOT. At these speeds the weight and aero dynamics probably play a huge role, but honestly while the X6M is a beast from the dig to about 80, past that it doesn't feel very fast.

You could have came up on a tuned Audi as well.. I have no issues getting from 80 to about 130ish before I see any sort of slow down... lol I've spanked a couple vetts around that rolling speed (not a dig).

Thats my thinking too, must have been a very tuned Audi. The X6 doesn't "feel" fast due to its size and being so high of the ground, but it is an utter beast.

There is a part of me that wants to tune it, but the sane part of me tells me its asking for trouble.

Yes, 2021 - I originally ordered it as 2020, but with the pandemic delays by the time I got it, the build was 2021. Lost night vision option that was only available on the 2020.

If you already have these thoughts, you won’t be able to resist for too long. Flash it with bootmod3 and see how it feels

Besides the fact that the S6 was probably tuned, depends if you floored it on comfort or M setting. It makes a huge difference

Are you sure the transmission didn't go into manual mode and you were stuck in 8th gear?

Tunde RS6 is only close to X6M from that era.

Maybe it was a tuned RS6 (4.2 V8 TT) or a well tuned A6 2.7T (2.7 V6 TT). That 2.7T motor can put out over 500hp easily with tunes and bolt ons. Its the same block as RS4 in that era so lots of mods available and able to handle lots of power. It's also over 1300lb lighter than X5M.

I owned a 2007 Audi S6 V10 detuned Lambo engine and that badboy would walk on many vehicles. Had that car 4 years and loved it.

Should have kept it as a 2nd vehicle.

I think air dynamics and weight come into play a lot at those speeds as well. Its hard to judge, but the X6M does not feel all that much faster at those speeds than my M2.

A naturally aspirated C6 S6, tuned, absolutely would not stand a chance IMO. Unless it had an aftermarket supercharger, mmmmmaybe it'd be closer, but still most likely slower.

That S6 with a V10 was cool and sorta quick, at the standards 15 years ago. If I recall correctly, a stock car did the 1/4 mile in around 13.2 - 13.5 secs, with all that weight and drivetrain friction, with very little options to squeeze more power out of it (supercharger).

It was either (likely) a C7 gen or later, or the fastest C6 S6 in the world :

^ Agreed. I bet you weren’t in sports mode...HUGE difference. Not that I condone this sort of behavior by the way.

Agree.completely. Significant delta between the two. And if I were just cruising down the interstate (trying to economize on road trips), I wouldn't have my engine nor transmission in sport plus. That's what the M2 button is for. Would he curious to hear from the op what setting they were in.

Engine was in sport plus, transmission wasn't - but that shouldn't matter at WOT, and it was that generation Audi. If you watch Doug's review, he says it is slow off the line, but really picks up at mid range.

Our cars are a lot more powerful, but also very heavy and not particularly aerodynamic.
