Flipped to awaiting carrier assignment this morning. Dealership said delivery should happen 10/11-10/12. I’m just outside Chicago.

Mine switched to "dispatched from factory" today! I am in Los Angeles, am I about 2-3 weeks away from getting my car?

You will hit At the Port when at the KC rail yard and then back to In Transit and ending with At the Port when it reaches the West Coast rail yard. You have about two weeks for that.

Congratulations! But how is this possible.. week 40 was last week Oct 1-7 and after production it goes through QC, final assembly, carrier assignment, etc. Did you get reassigned an earlier production date or did your car fly through the process? Exciting times!

His would be normal timing. If his production date was the 2nd he could get the car by the 4th depending on where he is at. Production takes less than a day including QC. If a carrier is available it could be skipped the next day. That was the normal timeline prior to the driver shortage.

I have been in QC since 10/2. I ordered an X5 M60. I just called BMW Genius and she says that there are no recalls or repairs scheduled for the car. The wait could be because they have a backlog. That explanation does not make sense to me. I can’t imagine that a car is parked in QC for 10 days just for a QC engineer to release the car.
How many of the week 40 folks are still in QC? Seems like all of them got their cars or at least out of QC

Ignore Genius. The factory does not give out the reason a specific vehicle is in QC to either Genius or the dealer. Your wait is not uncommon since in almost all cases the replacement parts need to come from Germany.

I feel like i need a week of studying to even begin to understand this technology!!!
