Anyone buy the $50 “upgrade” to add the 3 welcome carpet effects? I did, and it doesn’t do anything after I select any of them in the settings. It looks similar to the original but the original is better. All three look the same, just the curved light path. Reselecting “original” doesn’t restore it to how it used to look.

Trying to sneak one in because I know it's a tangent... But... Is there a way to increase the approach time on the lights? They go out before I can get my shoes on and walk around the car in the garage.

Yes, you can set how long they stay on in the settings. Mine stay on 90 seconds

Do you by chance know where? I've found the departure light timing but not the approach.

I thought this was three additional effects for the headlights and tail lights, I bought the upgrade and I now have three additional ‘welcome’ light patterns but it’s only the DRL’s in the front lights and the rear tail lights that have the pattern.

Yes, that is correct. I bought the upgrade last month as well. Unless there’s been a new release since, it does not effect the ground “welcome carpet.”

ACTIVATING WELCOME LIGHT ANIMATION The BMW Welcome Light Animation feature con be purchased via the ConnectedDrive Store. Once purchosed this feature is available under the Settings & Modes option in the vehicle. 1. Welcome Light Animation needs to be configured in the vehicle if using for the first time. To do this, select "Exterior lighting" from the opps menu, and then if necessary "Additional settingsu. Finolly ensure "Welcome and goodbye" is activated. 2. Confirm the light stage you wish to activate. 3. Now you ore all set to enjoy Welcome Light Animation.

When I saw the upgrade was available, it showed different welcome carpet designs projected on the ground. I'm still looking for where I saw it. I have a '24 X5 w/iD 8.5. I haven't noticed if anything special happens with the headlights or tail lights.

Here's a screenshot showing an alternate welcome carpet... I bought the $50 upgrade for this. Have to check the other exterior lights.

Thanks, appreciate it. I'm just looking for a longer uptime though, I'm fine with the stock lighting, just want it to stay on longer.

Agree with you. It’s a waste of money, not because it’s so inexpensive, but because the original lighting and carpet is better! BMW should allow customization for free or add an enhanced experience with this purchase. Most manufacturers have a better sequence in cars half the price of this.
