After 60 days you will be able to get the certificate. Prior to that you are not considered eligible for the incentive using NFCU membership for qualifying.

Can you not get your Dad’s DD214 or other paperwork so you can qualify through TrueCar?

A couple of things, yes the NFCU web site said if they are deceased to call so that's what we did and the guy that we spoke to didn't ask for any paperwork "proof".
Second thing: about the 60 days we got the certificate the same day we joined. it says "congratulations! Bring this form to any authorized BMW Center to redeem your member savings" And it lists the our name as the "purchaser" includes a specific "customer ID" and a specific "offer code". We have already emailed this certificate to our CA and they have already said that that was all the paper work they needed.
YMMV

Sounds like there is bug in their system. BMW specifically states in their rules that the person must be a member for at least 60 days to qualify for the incentive.

I guess what I’m trying to figure out with the 60 days is if I needed the certificate when I ordered the car? Or when it’s delivered? I can become a member for 60 days before it’s delivered, but of course, I’ve ordered the car, so if it’s upon order, I’m wasting my time. And I’ve requested paperwork from VA, although you mentioned a document number and I had to guess at what I was requesting…...choose from a list. There were not any document numbers listed.

It is 60 days from becoming a member that you can get the certificate (although the above said they got it right away). You don't need the certificate until you take delivery when you are paying for the vehicle.

I'm just telling you how it worked for us. If there is a bug in the system hopefully it doesn't get fixed before we take delivery

I understand and you should be fine since you have the certificate already. The dealer does no other checking/verifying.

Before the incentive was pulled from PenFed and given to NFCU people used to post updates as a countdown to their 60th day. Many would constantly try to get it early but the screen did not offer the print option. NFCU uses Plaid to verify the NFCU membership so perhaps the 60 day process is not possible. In my opinion there is no need for it since the NFCU membership qualifications are pretty much inline with the military incentive's.

Thanks everyone. I’ll be back on 05/31. Build date is first week of August. So I should have plenty of time once I’m home. Plus, in the meantime, I’ve asked for his military records. Hopefully I requested the proper ones, but even then I have 30 days to figure that out.

What sort of % off can I expect to negotiate for on a 2023 x5 m50i?

I got offered $4,000 off a 92,000 sticker. And a 97k sticker agreed to match the other dealers 4k off. Made me feel like I should be looking for 6-10% off.

Just an update on discounts for everyone. Purchased my 2024 X5 at end of April.

That is correct. Worked 5% off my on lot 2024 X5 and had them remove all that extra crap they had as dealer add one as well (additional $1,300).

They started at MSRP with no discount, but worked the deal online over 2-3 days using the discounts I was hearing others get on this site.

One had a few loaner X5's but in kinda ugly colors.

I got 4.25% off MSRP on a custom order 2024 X7 40i. I got a 2% discount from the largest dealer in the state, then just called all the midsize dealers until one was willing to beat it. Most were at least willing to match.

No 50i? Do you mean 50e or 60i?

My bad…didn’t notice you said ‘23

Well, you can look for it, but I think a 4% discount these days is more reasonable target. Natch a highly optioned car should get a bit better, but so much depends on your dealer and the local market. I know around here, they are all quite gree... um, try to maximize their profits.

If you want more than that, use a broker.

Just got 4% off a X5 40i custom order and had them kick in an extra $1,000 for my trade. They are a large dealer and had 2 X5 on lot.

Just took delivery yesterday.

The dealer was better than what i expected. I got $500 off of MSRP, Plus front windows tinted, nitrogen and door edge guards (i didn't ask for nitrogen or edge guards but was free).

They were also able to apply the $750 corp discount even though it was a X5M . Plus locked in the Fin rate of 5.49% @ 72.

How are people getting discounts here? When I placed an order through the dealer, the first thing they said was that, there wont be any discounts if I place a custom order. Is that the case? How can I negotiate for discounts for a new 2024 X5.?

Thanks in advance!

When the X6m60i LCI was first introduced reached out to the dealer I got my 8GC from and he said MSRP and $1k deposit for order, so I looked elsewhere. Placed order with another dealer without a deposit. When car went to 150 status, began number discussion with new dealer. Landed at 2% discount, base MF, no-cost dealer adds, and lender tax credits since I'm leasing.

I'd say research what a reasonable discount should be for the trim you ordered and continue the discussion or be prepared to walk. Not sure of the market where you are, but they would need to be willing to bank on someone else coming in to pick up your ordered spec at MSRP if they aren't willing to make the deal with you. Possible they'd snag someone willing to do so, but that also possible it'll sit until they are willing to actually deal.

Many folks are getting a discount on custom orders. Keep in mind though that varies by dealer, region, time of month/year, model, etc. Even in good times, you are in the region that traditionally has offered much lower discounts than other regions of the country. The best thing to do is shop your build round to as many dealers as you can to see if you can snag a good discount. You can also go the broker route and have them do the work.

I got 5% off from MSRP on a 2024 X5 40i custom order. Dealer was pushing me to buy a 2023 X5 and said they could do more on 2023 model.
