I've driven nothing but BMW's for 42 yrs and have new (to me) '21 G05 w/8K miles.
Dealer is refusing to update sw per SIB 09 03 21 in spite of my 11/2021.50 sw and "No upgrade currently available" msg. My Nav map updates work fine. Is anyone still getting OTA updates? Has anyone had OTA updates resume after dealer manually updates from 11/2021.50? Any and all advice welcomed. Thanks |

It seems like many, perhaps most, people are having issuing with receiving and/or installing OTAs. I personally consider them to be not working so don't care if I don't get one. If you offer to pay your dealer then I'm sure they would update it but the updates are not worth it in many people's opinion.

it was in for service (failed lower tailgate and HV battery module replacement) in 10/2021 and 11/2021. respectively. they completed its annual service early, but it wasn't updated to 11/2021. TBH i wasn't expected it. fast forward to Dec 2022 it was in for annual service when i mentioned a few "issues" to my SA who was able to get authorization to update to 11/2022. last month i received notification and updated OTA to 03/2023. i have no clue if my vehicle will see 07/2023 when it starts rolling through the US a few months from now |

That is the original version, not the updated one where they decided to treat all vehicles having at least 07/2021.xx as current. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...14254-9999.pdf

Strange but true
I've not received a notice via my car or the app that I have an OTA update available. I've looked every month since I've owned the car, it always says I have the latest available for me car, in my case its 3/2022.52
Ok, I'm not having any issues that would necessitate an update but when I read that many of you are getting updates, I feel left out Where's my update? Surely after all this time there must be an update that pertains to my car, yet none ever show up. Then I read in one of your posts that as of a certain update, don't recall which one off hand, BMW has removed the ability to code off ASS. What?!? Well, that's it, I no longer want an update Just this morning I was at the dealer getting a state inspection, I had just sat down in the service waiting room when my phone buzzed and in looking at it, I saw an alert that there is a software update waiting for me for my car! Coincidence? Dunno, but I jumped out of my seat, went to the Service Advisor and said, when your techs are working on my car and in the case they see there is an update pending, what would they do? He said, we would simply notify you but would not do the update without first asking you. Whew! BTW, the update is 03/2023.67 |

MinNY,
Very interesting that you are continuing to get OTA update offers even though your software is WAY past 11/2020.50. Did you get 3/2022.52 via OTA update or was it updated at a dealer visit? Be sure you tell us if the 03/2023.67 update prevents you from turning off ASS via sport individual. What is the build date of your car? My car (06/21 build, making it a very late MY21) was delivered w/o wireless charging. The seller said BMW couldn't install it because of the chip shortage. I'm not sure what if anything else wasn't installed due to chip shortages. Does anyone know if there a cross reference between SW update versions (11/2021, 03/2022,03/2023, etc.) and ID7/8/8.5? My service manager told me there were customer complaints about 8.5 and some had requested rollbacks. |

- I had the dealer upgrade to 3/2022.52 as a pre sale condition - I have no intentions on making the OTA upgrade. |

I don't miss wireless charging, but I miss the associated LTE compensator that allows your cell to use the external sharkfin antenna for reception.

What do you mean by a cross reference? My guess is your service manager is full of it. Only a very, very small percentage of vehicles have been updated to 8.5. BMW has told dealers they would not be paid to perform the update unless it is tied to a warranty repair since it will be sent out by OTA starting in September.

I worded that poorly. I want to understand the SW & HW terminology/versions.
My pre-LCI G05 has iD7 and LCI's have iD8 w/curved display HW, I believe. iD8 has been around for several years on non-G05 Bimmers. I see mention of OS7 & OS8, SW. Has OS8 been around since the introduction of iD8 or is it a recent development? Is OS8 only compatible w/iD8 HW or does it also work with iD7? Are the recent SW updates 11/2011, 03/2022, 07/2022, 11,2022, etc., compatible with both iD7 & iD8 HW? Maybe there is a Windows analogy here. I can run Win10 (OS7) on Intel (iD7) or AMD (iD8) HW. In some cases I can upgrade to Win11 (OS8). I may not get all new features of course. Thanks, |

The hardware that id generally referred to is the headunit and you will see names such as MGU21 or MGU22 also High Head unit 5, etc. For the most part people refer to the iDrive version and the hardware is not mentioned.

Looks like I was unnecessarily concerned about being stuck at 11/2021.50 and "no upgrade available" msg.
I received notification of 03/2023.67 update last week via MyBMW app. Downloaded to phone, transferred to iDrive and installation completed w/o incident. Relieved to see updates to my X5 seems to be working. Hopefully this will fix the quirk of the vehicle switching profile/phone to the last key that unlocks/enters ignoring the profile/key of the person in the driver's seat. Anyone know the i-Level of this update? |

I know they do, but since you posted the info I was wondering what you were asking.
