07/2023.58 is the latest at the dealers.

No it does not. The update is sent to your phone and then you connected it to the vehicle to download it.

It's been working fine on my X5 for a couple of weeks now. The app will always notify you much slower than the upgrade is available. Always worth checking in the vehicle and forcing the check. Noticed this on my i4 and the X5

Still on ID8, March 2023 update I think. I'm really looking forward to ID8.5 and future updates to clean up the UI. I'm in Canada.

I don't want to jinx it, but my phone hasn't disconnected from iDrive in 5 days (valet parking mode included). Maybe they did a server side update or it's because I'm putting the phone in the tray charger always?

Since I upgraded to 07/2023.53 I have frequent and multiple carplay issues. Phone even doesn’t connect with the car. I had months no issues with the previous software version under 8.5.

That doesnt surprise me to tell you the truth. I have zero confidence that later minor revisions of 07/2023 fixed the carplay / android auto connectivity issues. There wasn't much time between those builds. There's clearly more going on.

I'm still on 07/2023.33 and now that i've turned off my VPN that was on and used for work reasons, i've pretty much had no more issues connecting. Every so often i would get the bluetooth version error but i sometimes got that even if i didn't have my phone with me in the car.

I hope that at least later revisions fix the headunit crashing (black screen) issue which i think lots of us have experienced for seemingly random reasons. That should be a showstopper for BMW engineering to fix whatever is going on there ... although i blame Garmin. Ever since BMW changed the supplier for the headunit, things have gone downhill badly.

This is inexcusable its happening at all and should really never happen. If the headunit is not stable enough to work properly 100% of the time, then they shouldn't be selling the cars.

I had zero issues for months with 07/2023.33

Is there a way to go back?

No, there is no way to go back. What is interesting is that many people on .33 had issues and you were fine. When updated to .53 they reported the issues going away but you are getting them. Did you try removing your phone and re-adding it?

I’ve found 8.5 does not reset the same way as 8 did. On 8, after 30 seconds of holding the volume down it came back on, on 8.5 it doesn’t.

Has that been your experience also?

I think it's less than 30 seconds... I'll time it later, but seems the same.

Is the OS on you phone up to date?

I used the hands free highway assist for the first time since upgrading and noticed I now have to put my hands back on the wheel after 5-10s. Has anyone else noticed this feature is now disabled??

Does your display come back up while holding the volume button down?

Mine does not.

Have you been doing it while you were driving? If not give that a shot as it should provide feedback when the reboot starts by the screen going black and not shuttling off early.

After it reboots, most of the time it comes back up.

I've done it both ways, driving and parked. It never came back up until I released the volume control. On my ID8 it always came back on.

I do hear some sort of click deeper behind the dash...

If doing it while driving, you should be letting go of the button as soon as it shuts off. That means the reboot is starting and the screen should come back on during it. When not driving, you should be letting go of the button as soon as you hear anything.
