Ceramic Coating in LA

Can anyone recommend a place to get ceramic coating done in the LA/OC area?

For those of you who have done it yourself - thoughts on DIY if you have no garage?

Thanks!

Eco luxury detail in the OC. See knick. He's really meticulous, and educates you about the process. I've used rhino in Huntington Beach as well as polished pro in Long Beach. Polished pro left me questioning their work, and charged me more than the other places i looked up. Rhino was great, never had an issue. I found eco luxury detail and wish I had used them for my current car.

I’m in North County San Diego and was debating doing it myself but found a guy who would do it for $350. When talking to him, he seemed like a stand up guy so hoping that it goes well. Can let you know on Saturday after install. He goes to south OC.

Who is this detailer? I would be very skeptical at that price

I agree. $350 for paint correction and ceramic coating seems way too cheap. Unless he’s doing it as a hobby and not to make money out if it.

$350 is assuming no paint correction - a light buff and then putting the coating on. It was a brand new car that just went straight home to the garage (she was kept detailed on the dealer floor until then). Would have been quite a bit more of that weren’t the case.

Ferrari’s come straight from the factory that need paint correction especially a car that has been touched by a dealership. Your detailer most likely took the easy route. I don’t see many “just” applying a coating.

This. I took mine straight from showroom floor to detailer for ceramic coating but still needed paint correction. Dealers don't know how or care to wash/detail cars correctly and typically under that fresh coat of wax is swirls galore.

The hate train coming on strong. I can tell you that it looks great and the only paint correction was a light buff and one spot that needed a bit more work. Can say that I was quoted quite a bit higher from the same guy for my wife’s SUV that has ~3k miles on it since it does need more prep work.

It’s not hate train it’s trying to help you get a proper “detail”. If you got the price you wanted and you are happy with the results that’s all that really matters. Whether it was done properly doesn’t matter at this point.

I have zero reason to “hate” on you or someone I don’t know. Never knew giving knowledge could be perceived that way.

I agree. It’s not a hate train. It’s people giving insight or opinions. You can take it for what it’s worth.

NOT ONCE in 15 years have I ever had a car in "perfect" condition from the dealership. Even cars that get delivered with transport paper on them are still jacked up. Everything needs proper attention prior to a coating. These guys charging 350 for wash, clay, decon, no polishing, slapping on a ceramic coating are doing ZERO good. Its one thing to just make a buck, but that is hardly running a business. Dont compare hobby pricing to retail pricing either, the work is worlds apart. a guy in his garage for 500 compared to a shop with overhead and employees CANNOT charge the same.
