Lane Change Assistant - a little aggressive

I like the feature but it changes lanes pretty fast.

It probably changes lanes in 1/3 the distance I'd do changing lanes manually.

Is there a way to code a less aggressive change?

lol i think its kinda slow. But I do appreciate that if a vehicle suddenly closes in on your vehicle while changing lanes, it'll go back to the original lane.

Way back when I was learning to drive, the instructor kept a glass milk bottle on the floor. Each time you knocked it over, you lost five points for the day (you needed to pass the course to get your 'full' driver's license early in NYS at the time). This taught smooth driving, turns, starting, stopping, etc. You could go fairly fast, but needed to be smooth about it.

So, with that long preamble, yes, I think that the auto lane change is a bit abrupt. If the roads were snow covered, it probably wouldn't be a good idea, but then, using that in those conditions might not be wise, either.

It can be coded to a slower variant, but careful what you wish for. I don't like it:

SAS3/C_SWA_Auspraegung Nr002_Variante_Cat_C

changed from: Nr001_Variante_USA

Thanks for the tip...perhaps I learn to live with it.

There are also stock region and software version variations. We know you're US, but we don't know your software version, so hard to comment.

For example, up to and including 03/2019.xx, in US/Canada cars, it (LCA) was unbearable and unusable IM(H)O, while apparently much more usable in UK on the same software version. That got fixed in 07/2019.xx to be same as UK and became pretty fantastic, again IM(H)O. There have been comments that there have been further improvements either in 07/2020.xx or 11/2020.xx.

Software-driven tech is not constant, for better AND worse.

Hi IFR:
I really miss the post that you submitted sometime ago about Coding TLA using Esysx. I wish if I had copied the contents of it.

You have turned off the option of reaching to through PM but is it possible for you to please PM me (and copy paste) the text of that Post? What I miss is the way you explained how to setup Esysx on a PC (and Mac/VM). Thank you!!!

Hey!
I don't recall posting about how to setup esysx. I did a post on how to code ADV using esys/esysx which was a repost from a 2019 post-was that it?

esysx there isnt much too it, and loads of info out there on how to install esys, psdzdata and esysx, including from the vendor.

The only decisions are standard or expert licence - go std unless doing code discovery. Dongle or sw licence - dongle allows VM and you can move it to another PC, but is more expensive and takes longer to deliver. I use dongle and expert, although the expert boolean decoding isn't as good as my manual ones.

Curious what software version you are on?

I noticed a significant improvement on LCA going from 07/2020.80 to 11/2020.45. It is not as aggressive with the movements and all around is smoother.
