Strange Smell from Engine Bay

HI

First BMW X5 M50d and new around here, I have done nearly 1000miles in the car.

I am getting this strange smell of like burning and burning plastic when driven about hour and the vents are open and sucking air in. I don't drive hard or mad as the car I feel is still running in.

Does anyone think I need to get it check out by BMW service centre or is this normal?

need anymore information Please ask away.

Thanks

Paul

I believe I've read another thread like this before..... and I think the overall consensus was that it was just the "newness" of much of the underhood plastics getting warmed up for the first time.

If I recall, the smell went away after a short period.

If it's a STRONG smell, I would definitely bring it in.

Hi

Just an update to this I drove no more than 2-3 miles about 10 mins. Car when home vents open sucking air and having the smell again. That I thought was very strange due to the short journey?

If there are any other posts on this can you point me in the right direction please really worried as I don't want to do any damage to the car.

Thanks

Paul

All brand new cars have this. Mine had the same thing for the first several hundred miles. Unless you see any fluids under your car or have any errors, I would give it a bit. Can always stop by the dealership if you have concerns, these vehicles are complex and difficult to troubleshoot over forums when it is related to a smell or a noise.
