Neat!!!!!!!
In my tracking, I saw that three X5s were delivered to that site in the same truck. Guess three happy souls

I realized that I am missing when socket and wrench from the tool set. CA tells me BMW does not provide that, even though I had a spare tire in my build.

Wow, that was unbelievably fast. Congrats on the car!

That initial build week slot makes all the difference...you're dealer helped a lot to get you in faster.

Moved to "Production Begins" status and got a Vin. BMW genius has production completion date of Jan 1. Not much has changed but nice to see a little progress in the queue here...

First post. Just ordered my X5 M50i in tanzanite blue yesterday and we should have the allocation by Friday. With the plant being closed Dec 23rd thru Jan 10th, I hope it doesn’t delay the build too long! Really excited about the color as I haven't seen it yet on a car.

My dealer placed my order on 45e two days ago, when should I expect an email with tracking info?

Does anyone know if that's true? I can't see a plant shutting down for 2 weeks.

Also, I need to stop calling in for status updates...completion was scheduled for Jan 1, now they said Jan 8th. I'm going backwards!

I think they do shut the Plant down for two weeks. I could be wrong but I think they use that time to clean the plant and retool machines. From what I have seen online it looks like they do. But maybe someone who actually know will shed light on it.

You should get production number from your dealer and you can track it online via bmwusa.com then owners, sign up/in, my garage.

Dealer placed my order 12/15 (3 days ago) and my status is Order Received. I called my dealer and asked what is the production week slot-he said week 5 of next year, so 2/5/21. Yours could be sooner-as others said it all depends on dealer's allocation/slot in production. My sales guy told me it's likely they can make it sooner, but no guarantees-depends on how busy they get, and with two weeks of a holiday break, i don't have my hopes up, so will now chill and relax knowing likeliest outcome is mid-February for me

I'm scheduled for production to be completed tomorrow, Jan 7th. There's no movement at this point on the site. It still says production begins. Is there a chance the date gets delayed? Or maybe just not updating? A rep at BMW genius shows same thing so didn't get more info there.

I have a week 5 build as well!

Curious about what that means exactly.

Vehicle will begin production process in week 5 or expected to be delivered to dealer by week 5?

Having to line up my pre-approval and the delivery has been a bit nerve racking lol

No! Lol. Why would they schedule for production on that date if they were closed. The waiting game continues...

Honestly seems a bit odd to me but I read that in few places plus that's what BMW of Austin confirmed as well.

Sometimes I don't think even BMW knows what BMW does lol

Edit: me reading this wasn't from any proper source. More so just comments from members of the forums in various threads

The actual physical build process in the plant takes less than a day. Prior to that, the parts needed for that are ordered from various vendors such as the seats, trim, etc. The production week specified is when it is scheduled to be finished. Then, it awaits carrier assignment, and once that happens, it gets shipped. THat delay could be a day, or several weeks. Mine sat in awaiting carrier assignment for over a week, then it took about that to get to the dealer. How it gets shipped, depends somewhat on where your dealership is and the availability of transport. Some stuff happens daily, some takes longer like if on a ship, or train, as they generally don't send out partial rail cars or boats, and it can take some time to fill them up going to the same location...just depends.

I have a 45e order in that was supposed to be week 51. According to Genius it's now supposed be done Jan 19. It's been in "production begins" status since Dec. 21. I did order Merino but was wondering if the battery recall had slowed down the 45e orders. By the time I get it, my total timeline from placing the order will be around 12 weeks.

Thank you for clarifying.

I was also able to speak to BMW and it's put me in a bit of bind as they moved me to build week 8 now. My preapproval for financing expires on 1/23 but I can extend it to 2/23 at the most.

Unfortunately with shipping speeds etc, I won't have the car till March something.

UPDATE: So the vehicle moved into 112 (scheduled for production, I believe) as of 1/8/21. From what I gather it takes 15-20 days from this point to go into production meaning I'm still more or less on track for week 5. Maybe the BMW Genius got it wrong?
