Tire/Rim Protection?

I typically never buy the extended stuff - on the X5MC, looking for advice on picking up the extended warranty on the wheels / tires...

With a winter / summer set - is it worth it ? (plan to see my X5MC soon)

how long do you wish to keep it; more than 2 years? does your commute involve a construction zone? do you have pirellis? have you curbed previous cars?
if the answer is 'yes' to any of them..please buy.
(prior experience :-))

Well - I’m pretty careful, and don’t curb…but the tires are $$$. And with two wheel sets it may be worth it. I just don’t want hassle…

I am picking up the MC soon - so planning ahead.

didn't buy on my 2021s and had pirellis on them .. ended up with nails .. the good thing is that they are not run flats so you can get them plugged as long as they are not close to the sidewall...on my 2022 have michelins and they don't suck up nails (heck even an rj11 cable once) like the pirellis..

Car is 2-days old and screw in the tire - may replace tire because of screw placement near sidewall. I would get it, unless you plan on getting aftermarket wheels/tires. That tire is 673.99 USD on tire rack right now. One more and almost paid for the wheel and tire warranty.

It was $2600 when I got mine. Its much cheaper to buy as an addon from Chubb or Travelers if they are your carrier. $50 deductible though.

Right - I got the $50 deductible. No biggie. But I would have been upset if I had to drop $800 (tire + install) 2-days after dropping 100K+. I was able to laugh it off - 2-days

I just called travelers to try to get this added to my policy and they said they do not offer any special coverage for tire/rim. Are you able to clarify how to add it?

Thanks

For my X6 40i with 22 inch rims it was $1300 Cdn.

I agree. Thr pirellis wear much faster but they perform very well. I still will only go with the Michelins though. Performance is better and they last longer.

Never got it before but did for my X6MC. Within a week of purchase, I had a nail in the tire. Tires warranty covered the $600+ for the replacement tire! Practically paid for itself…I learned that there is a cap in annual payout which amounts to basically one tire/year given how much our tires cost! Your policy/plan might differ

I ended up getting it, and with 2 sets of wheels & tires well worth it, IMO for the M tires alone.

Intire and other tire warranties

Intire offers a great warranty. However don't pay the dealer's initial ask. You should be able to get it for around $1500. I thin the dealer pays about $1250 for it.

100% get it.

I repaired 4 rimes, replaced one and replaced 2 tires with it so far, in less than a year of ownership lol.

I waited til all 4 rims had a little bit of rash on them and had BMW redo them in gloss black too. Looks so much better.

Had 2 rear summer tires replaced due to nails in areas that were fixable but the tire shop submitted for a new tire anyway.

Do it. Just dropped $1700 on TWO Michelins when I got a hole in the sidewall from driving over some oyster shells at the beach house. I'd highly advise negotiating the price and getting it if you haven't already.

Wait wait wait—— hold up.

How long have I been asleep that MP4S is up to $673 for 315/30ZR22

I remember looking these up all winter and we were nowhere close. Haven't had to replace my pirellis yet and this is nuts

Bruh, with shipping, tax and install (my tire guy at Mavis couldn't even order them — and tire rack only had 7 or 8 or so in stock nationally) it was actually $1451.23. I slid the tire guy $100 for install to get me in and out (time value of money). So figure almost $1600 not including paying to get it patched twice.
