My M60i just made it to the dealer yesterday and I was informed of this sell stop on it. I just got off the phone with dealer an hour ago and he said BMW is still trying to solve it and it could take a couple days or a couple weeks.

Thanks for confirming.

I’m curious to know if any X5’s or X7’s produced on 8/10 or after are being affected or not. The dates provided in the stop-sale document were not accurate last year so I worry this will be a repeat. If nothing else I’ll be able to use my X7 scheduled for 8/25 as our test subject (but hopefully a fix will be around before then for all of you).

I think the dates given were likely the through dates current at the time BMW drafted the stop-sale. It’s illogical to me that a software fix is magically available and implemented starting 8/10 at the factory but not sent to dealers. But who knows, this could also be because NHTSA will be involved in a stop-sale and will likely need to approve any remedies; perhaps vehicles not already released from the factory aren’t subject to the same procedural process with the feds.

What do people do who have PCD scheduled? Do they get a note from PCD or dealer to cancel their trip?

I'd reach out to PCD directly and ask them.

Any mention as to if it’s software or hardware or both? Honeslty don’t know why BMW keeps this information with such secrecy, must be their way of running things.

Thanks - mine hasn’t been built yet, just wondering in general if anyone went through that scenario yet.

My X5 production date is 8-12 and is being transported on Friday to the dealer. I just checked the German BMW site for VIN and says Translated: There are no open safety-related recalls or technical improvements on this vehicle.

So hopeful the issue has been corrected.

PCD verified mine was affected and I have an Aug 28th delivery date. So we are playing it by ear right now.

Awesome! Let us know if anything pops up when it arrives. Assuming you opted for the driver’s assistance pro package? Sounds like that’s what’s causing this.

Hope they get it sorted quickly! PCD is an awesome experience. You're already waiting longer to receive your X5 because of doing PCD vs. picking up at the dealership, and now you may have to wait longer.

Guess this is why they say don't make travel arrangements before a certain timeframe.

The certain timeframe is 2 weeks.

I already made travel plans. Will have to see the outcome.
My understanding is you potentially can do the PCD even if you don’t get your car and they may send to dealer.

It’s not great news after all the waiting. Like in my case I probably would have had the car prior stop sale. But as well there is time to still fix it prior PCD.

Supposed to do PCD next week also … they said I could go and not get car or reschedule it. Will reimburse flight or pay for rental car/ flight home if the car isn’t ready …. Still waiting to hear.

My car was built a week before and I have never seen the hands-free option show up. I paid for the option, it is in the car, the box is checked in the settings, I have been on a highway going over 40 with the hands on option working.

In most cases you wont know until the dealer receives car and processes the paperwork. They are then informed if the vehicle has been flagged

I guess the bright side here is this may just be an over the air update? I think thats our best case scenario. Anyone hear any updates from their dealer? Crickets over here.

Since it is a stop sale it needs to be a dealer installed update to take care of them. If there are vehicles in the field that are effected they likely will post a recall but we have not seen that yet. For the recall a dealer update will be offered but if the problem happens to be taken care of in an OTA in the meantime then you would be fine.

Usually OTA updates are at least one major version behind but since the 8.5 OTA is scheduled to come out in September it will be the current major version being released so the timing of it taking care of this and the DMTL issue is possible.
