M Multifunction Seats - impressions from long term use
Dear X5M/X6M owners,
Let me address the elephant upfront, my question comes in the context of me making my final choices for my M60i specification. I am fully aware this is not a "proper M" car, so before you point out the fact, I know I am in the "proper M" forum I will welcome your advice/impressions on living with the M Multifunction seats over longer period - and especially how they fare on long journeys. My specific worry is about he seat bolsters (the ones holding the leg) - I found them on the stiff side and wanted to ask if in your daily use this becomes any issue? Also, do they become "softer" over time? thanks!

Mine is still new so can’t comment on if they soften up but compared to my previous 22 M3 and my wife’s 23 X3M the seats in the X5M are the best combination of luxurious, supportive and sporty I’ve ever had. Very comfortable for long trips.

Is there an option for M Sport seats in the 60i?
I thought the multi-contour seats were the only ones available

for long-er drives you will feel the stiffness because of the bolsters. Not very comfortable for your back either. For regular drives in and out of the city/suburbs etc they're fairly comfortable, more than other M cars.

Hey man, you’re in the wrong forum.
Haha Anyhows, agreed, these are the best seats I’ve ever sat in. They are totally bad ass. Mines a 2023, but not an LCI.

Yes, I can order the “proper M” seats as an option for the X5 M60i. The only bothering thing is they are available either in black Merino or tartufo Merino. I’d love them to come in Ivory…. But hey, can’t have everything, I guess

Been with these seats for a while! A now sold 2020 M5 and my current X5M...
While I LOVE the seat, its functions and comfort, I do not like getting in and out of the car, specifically the X5M. The side bolsters are very high which makes it nearly impossible to get in and out of the car without applying pressure to it which will inevitably wear it over time... I have a way to maneuver myself over it but this awkward gymnastics is definitely not for everyone... I would still take it over a more flat seat I just wish the bolster could be adjusted lower to allow easy entry / exit |

I took my seat out and had my guy steam the foam on the bottom side bolsters to soften them up. They were too narrow for me. This did help, but not enough. There is a fiberglass piece in there that sort of holds the bolster in place. I'm trying to buy a new cushion so I can modify that part and install it.
I'm not particularly big (5' 11" 170#) I'm just super picky about my seats.

With the multi-contour seats, you can adjust the side bolsters to make them more wide or more narrow, depending on your body size / type as well as how you want to be situated in the seat. I guess what Nick Daffern is indicating is that M multifunction seats do not have adjustable side bolsters like the multi-contour seats.

As far as I can tell, you can adjust the bolster on the backrest of the seat (the ones “hugging” you). Sadly, this can’t be done with the bolsters on the actual seat (ie the ones supporting / holding your thighs)

I am ~4 months into the ownership and still getting used to the seats. As of now, it's a love-hate relationship...
I am 5'10' - 170 lbs wet, and the seat feels tight. My wife definitely will not fit I never understood the reason for the super heavy side bolsters on a seat cushion in an SUV I doubt anyone drives their X5M in a way that those get utilized. Mercedes AMG seats don't look nearly as good, but so much more comfortable and have dynamically inflatable side bolsters activated during a turn |

I've had my F95 now for 3 years. Obviously I'm used to the seats, but I don't like the fact that the lower thigh bolsters are not adjustable. I had a 2023 X5 M50i for a loaner yesterday and that had just the regular comfort (same amount of adjustments as the F95) seats. Even though those seats (comfort) look about the same size as our seats, the M50i's just felt a lot roomier and of course the lower side bolsters were pretty much flat, so they were comfortable. Kind of wish they were in the F95.
