Timing for model year 2022?

Haha! I just got this crazy thought before putting in my x5 order. When does BMW start manufacturing the upcoming model year vehicles / 2022 model? I recall it was around June, and I wonder if I should wait for 3-4 months and get the 2022 model. Will it be a facelift? Any thoughts? I will keep the car for 4 years and then sell it.

Usually start building in August with early September first deliveries. MY 2023 would be facelift if they stick to previous timelines. You will be waiting quite a while for a 2022.

Because (I think) of supply issues, BMW chose to limit some options for the US during the 2021 MY such as you cannot get acoustic glass, heated/cooled cup holders, night vision camera, and maybe a few other things. Those MIGHT start to be more readily available as this year goes on, and maybe next MY (they are available in some markets even though they are all made here in the US).

I chose their hybrid version because most of my driving is local, and it can do it all in EV mode, but it's no big deal to take it on a cross-country trip, or pull a trailer along the way just filling the gas tank up and charging when available (or having the engine do it).

BMW hasn't publicly announced the production schedules, but the dealers MIGHT know (it's a little early).

Wouldn't be surprised. BMW had a tremendous year financially when compared to the other luxury brands. They were able to do that with supply chain issues, a pandemic, and feature deletions across the board.

They've seen they can lower the bar a bit and still make the money.

They might offer the deletions again, but certainly doubt they will just include it as part of the exec pkg cause clearly they don't need to

Just ordered my X5 45e and the dealer said there will be an tinted headlamp option for the 22 model year. Everything else is software for now. No mid-life upgrade in sight.
I have an F15 lease until 1. November so I could go for a build in july for a 22 model although I´m not sure if there´s a point.
