Angry Help: ProTool messed up my BDC

Purchased the latest ProTool to decode anti-dazzle. After VO coding (removal of 5AP) and during factory coding of the BDC module, it failed and reported corrupt CAFD. My X5 lost its headlights, turn signals, etc.

I installed E-sys and took a screenshot of the BDC module. It shows strange CAFDs, which cannot be read. Could someone tell me how to fix it, please? This is a 2022 xDrive45e with all available options.

If missing or corrupt, in your case, you cannot load saved NCD. You must inject:

Connect => Read FA (VO) => Activate FA (VO) => Read SVT (VCM) => Left-Click on desired FRM => Click on "Detect CAF for SWE" => Select the CAFD from latest I-Level shown (bottom) => Select OK => Right-Click on FRM (the ECU itself not the underlying CAFD) => Select CODE.

Thanks. However, on both E-Sys 3.27.1 (via Launcher PRO 2.8.2) and E-Sys 3.36.2 (by direct launch), the "Read SVT (VCM)" step failed -- I was clicking on "Read (VCM)" under SVT Actual. E-Sys 3.27.1 returned a 433 error. E-Sys 3.36.2 returned 0 ECU. Was my VCM also damaged?

I think that your version of Esys and Launcher Pro is not compatible with G05

Were you able to keep a backup before coding attempt?

Hi, i am also using Protool a lot, and had a few issues with it. But everytime, the support helped me put my modules back online.

To recover it you have to inject standard CAFD's manually, select all the CAFD's and then factory code the module. After that recover the coding backup, if you have it.

Thanks to everyone above! I sent my car to the dealer, and they fixed it and of course told me not to mess up with the software again. Imagine the moment I thought I broke down an $88k toy (after tax). I don't know if I will be brave enough to fiddle with Protool again.

Protool is fine. As long as you code in diagnostic mode, put the phone in airplane mode and have a good battery, everything will be fine.

I did exactly this. In particular, I was using ENET with a USB-C ethernet adapter. The Android 11 device had more than 50% of the battery. After the airplane mode is enabled, I turned ethernet tethering on.

Except you can't turn on ethernet tethering when airplane mode is active.

First of all, I did, so I know you can.

Second, check BimmerCode's Manual at https://bimmercode.app/manual/ . Click on Android, look up for ENET cable connection (Android 11):
3. Enable the Airplane mode on the Android device.

4. Enable “Ethernet tethering“ in the Android settings (“Settings“ > “Connections“ > “Mobile Hotspot and Tethering“ > “Ethernet tethering“).
