LC500 & Lexus V8s

Nice vid on LC500 ownership by Savage Geese.

With a GSF in the family, I'm a huge fan of the F cars and the Lexus V8. And that LC is arguably one of the best looking cars out there, and it's actually attainable.

The LC500 is awesome, probably best Lexus ever made (except super rare LFA of course).

The LC500 is pretty fucking sick. I don’t love the exterior design that much. I feel like the entire lexus line up looks so much a like that it makes that car look a generic. But to listen to them talk about the driving experience sounds amazing. I think It would make for a great GT car.

lc500 is a very nice car. i dont think i've heard one bad review of it. but its a very niche market. Its not really a sports car being 4000+ pounds. And its only got space for 2 adults being a daily driver. You'd ideally want it in a 3 car setup if you had a family. But if you don't have kids it could work in a 2 car setup. i've been on the fence about trading my f80 for one.

It's not a sports car at all, you should go into thinking it's more of an SL or 8 Series competitor than say a 911 IMHO. I enjoyed many things about it when I test drove it, but it's no faster or more exciting than my 13 year old E92 M3. And for that price, even used, I expect a little more. It would make a great daily if you're OK with 2 seats though!

You are correct, I think in a 3 car fleet, an LC500 convertible with a sports car and something practical would be really cool.

Writing as an owner of a 2021 lc500 convertible, I don’t recommend anyone getting this as their only car. Not if you are into getting the most amount of speed for your money. You will be wanting the crazy speed that the other competitors in this price range offer. However, as a 2nd or 3rd car, it’s wonderful! Outside of bad weather, this is my daily driver and it blends practicality, performance, exclusivity, and fun all together very well.

I really wish I could convince myself to buy an LC500, I love that car so much. But as someone who prefers to just have one car and likes track days, I can't make it make sense. Maybe an RCF would be a good compromise

It seems like it would be a great only car if one doesn't care about having the sharpest handling or quickest car. It seems fast enough, reliable, great NVH, beautiful styling, comfortable, etc. I don't see what it is missing as an only car besides extra doors.

If you get the Performance package or whatever they call it now with the Rear wheel steer, the car actually handles quite well. I took it out to the mountains/back roads outside NYC and it is a sharp handling car with very direct inputs. It drives better to me than cars like M8, GranTurismo etc. The V8 and 10speed are great combo as well.

Unfortunately that's what I find with all Lexus products. "If it had more HP...", "If it just...". That statement shouldn't have to be said about a 100K car. It's a good-looking car with 471hp that can't outrun a X3 M40i SUV. That's sad. Overpriced, overweight - underperforming. A M3 (base) is 30% cheaper, lighter, faster, better handling and (to me) better looking.

its not a numbers car. nobody is buying it for laptimes or racing others. Most people that buy it already have a sports car or don't care about that stuff.

Evo just did an article comparing the ferrari roma, aston DB11, Bentley GT and LC500

LC came in 3rd beating out the bentley gt v8 which costs twice as much, and runs a 11.7 quarter mile (similar to a G82 M4) compared to the LC's 13.2

I don't know after sitting in one I didn't even go out in it. The interior seemed small compared to the outer dimensions and after gliding my gunboat sized feet into the narrow opening I knew it wouldn't work.

Anyone focusing on spreadsheet numbers has clearly missed the point. This car isn't about numbers, it's about how it makes you feel. It's an absolute joy to drive. The combination of the sound it makes, the feel of an NA V8, and the ability to break traction easily all contribute to a fun, visceral driving experience.

It's a gorgeous and comfortable GT cruiser with excellent fit and finish and a gem of an engine. It's a car you take on date night or a fun Sunday drive. Not something you take to the track or attempt to race others in.

I've posted this on here before and wish I had a link to the video. Some guy on youtube races all sorts of cars and gives reviews after. Not verbatim, but his review on the LC500 was that out of all the super cars and luxury sports cars that he's driven, the LC500 was hands down the slowest....and at the same time, it was his favorite.

It's a car that really cannot be appreciated unless you see it in person. They really are stunning and command such a road presence. The proportions work much better in the real world, too. Will be interesting to see what they're going for on the used market in another 2 or 3 years...

I don't agree with this 100%. I happen to like the way it looks inside and out. I also think it sounds amazing for a stock car, closer to an American muscle car than something Lexus would make.

I walked away from the test drive thinking I like the car, but I don't LOVE it for $78k used. And this was before COVID prices, I don't know what they're doing now. For that much money, I would want more fun and performance personally, but I don't think I'm missing the point. Now maybe if they somehow tank to $40k, I'd be more onboard.

I still think for much less money, the S65 is a visceral engine. Yes, I know the cars are apples and oranges, but I didn't get back in my E92 M3 missing anything but the interior quality and design.

Not trying to knock on the car, I'm very glad Lexus made it!

almost every review of the car has been good. You can check out JayEmm on Cars, The Topher, Smoking Tire, Engineering explained, DudeinBlue, StraightPipes, Throttle House. They've all done reviews and all of them love it.

The only time i've seen it lose was against the C8 vette on the 'every day driver' channel.

In all honesty, this looks NOTHING like the average Lexus, or a normal LC500...especially with $10K worth of wheels and super slammed. This car is borderline concept car.
