Android Auto not connecting
I picked up my X5M yesterday, and can't seem to get Android Auto to work. The BMW genius spent an hour resetting and restarting everything with no avail, on both a Pixel 4 and a OnePlus 7 Pro keep getting "Connection failed. Please check the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi settings on your mobile device". iDrive software is on the latest version, Pixel 4 is on Android 11, OnePlus is on Android 10.
Anyone else run into this issue? I also don't know how to connect it via the cable - tried connecting to the USB port at the front and it detects that phone is connected, but doesn't do wired Android Auto either (this one there are no messages - just nothing happens). |

Are you accepting all access to contacts and your phone. I have a 21 and the first attempt i accidenta hit no. Probably not the issue if you've been through it with the genius.

anyone figure this out? I have a Huawei Mate 20 Pro running Android 10. Cannot connect. Try to connect, searches for phone, I click confirm note, then says re-entry/cancel. re-entry is the same over and over. All other BT options work. tried to reset phone etc. and does the same thing all over gain. Tried both wired USB connected to front port and wireless.

I did figure out how to get AA working on a Huawei Mate 20 Pro. It is fairly involved. If anyone needs instructions that worked for me PM me.

Most phones work with WIRED AA.
BUT for wireless AA, you need a phone that either: (1) Runs Android 11 or (2) is a recent Samsung or Pixel branded phones. And also, for my Samsung s20, i needed to go into AA settings to enable wireless AA(there is a toggle option for wireless). In other words, if you do not see a "enable wireless AA" toggle in AA settings, your phone does not support wireless AA. |

Didn't pay attetion to exploring the option after i found that my phone can do wireless without twicking... I guess the only downside is that you need to sign up for google play service beta program...don't know how stable/unstable it is, but at least it gives you the wireles option. |

And when i post that comment, I am assuming I am writing to a very average Android user who does not know about rooting or how to modify the Android OS. But still, these 2 criteria for sure work, no need for any hacky stuff. |

Are you using AA without the BMW Internet connection? ( the free 3 month trial from AT&T)

Yes. Your phone should be on cellular data network to use any of the online feature of AA if you don't have a data subscription from AT&T

I have same phone but my connection is not stable. Could you share the instructions? I was able to connect to the car but normally it doesn't auto connect when I start my car next time. The device page on iDrive does not show the Android Auto icon next to my device. I need to either temper with some settings in iDrive or AA on my phone to get it connected again.
