22" square setup

I ordered my X5 with the square 20" 740Ms but want to purchase the 22" black 742M wheels in the future. I know those come staggered when optioned that way from BMW but can't I also just buy four of the front wheels to run a square setup so I can rotate tires? Do I need to stagger the 22s?

Yes you can. I am having mine installed by the dealer next week. Ordered two fronts for the back and having the Michelin Pilot Sport AS 4 installed.

Well... YES and NO. Depending on the model/trim you choose F96/95 or GO6/O5, the front hub size may be different from the rear. I would check and confirm before buying. Also I know with the BMW winter set up for the M model with square 21's the rear rim is actually 1/2" wider than the front

Following - also interested in this.. .
The only addition I'll make is I'd assume you "might" want the rear offset more aggressive to give it a more staggered look; but would love to hear from a pro here...

I personally worked with BMW parts on this setup. I am a 22 xDrive40i.

I've got a MY22 xdrive40i. Can't imagine why 20" square 275s would be fine but 22" square 275s wouldn't.

How'd the install go on square 22s?

Went great. They look good and it drives so much quieter than the stock Conti’s. I installed the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4’s.

Congrats. I've got a lot of agonizing pro/con research to do in order to decide by March if I'm going 22 staggered or 22 square.

Yeah, I did a lot of research too. In the end, it was a call to the dealer and their "yeah, we do this all the time" that landed it for me. With where I live, I really only need 1 set of tires/rims. I love the 22" and want that look all year. Very happy so far (yes, the staggered "looks" a bit better).

Since you seem to have gotten good insight from the dealership, did they discuss the "star" tires at all with you? I assume the Michelins they put on are just regular Michelins and not the "star" ones specifically to BMW spec?

Not a word, other than my tire and wheel will coverage will handle whatever rubber/rims are on the car. I specifically asked and they were very clear it didn't matter.

***Hendrick is the dealer and I have always loved their service***

Has anyone else done this? I have 2023 X5 coming with 22s and live in Northern Virginia and I'm thinking about doing this. Does it look funny? I was thinking about doing 275/35/22 in the front and 285/35/22 in the back with the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4. Thoughts?
