Video In Motion
Sorry if this topic has already been addressed, but from what I've researched on this forum, the answer is confusing. Can someone, in plain english, answer the following:
- Is it possible to configure my 2022 X6 M50i to play music videos off a USB while the car is in motion? It can when I'm in park. - If so, how do I do that? Do I need this 'bimmercode' thing? If so, is it software I have to pay for (how much should it cost) to download to my Android? Do I actually need to buy an adapter as well? Just trying to clearly understand what it takes, if it's worth it and if it's easy enough for simple folks to follow. Thanks. |

Ok, sigh. I'll edit to be (slightly) less prickly: - yes, Video in Motion as you describe is possible on all G05/G06/G07/F95/F96 - yes, you do have to code it - yes, Bimmercode is the simplest way to do so and explicitly supports Video in Motion and provides detailed post-coding instructions to follow to fully enable Video in Motion after coding - yes, Bimmercode is available on Android - yes, Bimmercode is paid; price depends on your region, but it's as simple as looking in the Play Store (why not do that now?) - yes, you'll need an OBDII adapter (those are paid as well); Bimmercode documents very well what they require for G05 and Android; your choices are Bluetooth, WiFi, or wired Ethernet, but considering your obvious experience level, one of the explicitly supported Android and G05 Bluetooth adapters is best for you

Good. Sorry for the prickly response. It's just that there are so many people that don't even do any basic search or research and that's a bad indicator for future success. But it seems that's not you and that you just needed a confirmation of what you found to be correct (it is). Forums ARE a bad facility for summarized cohesive knowledge — we need a wiki. Sorry again.

All good ... I researched this forum and just got more confused the more I read. Just ordered a OBDLink CX adapter. Just have to wait for it to arrive, then connect to bimmercode app I just loaded (if I'm interpreting actions correctly).

Yes, you've understood correctly. You may also find this useful, Speedlock disable can be a bit hit or miss: https://www.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?p=28084630

Download the app now, you don't have to pay for it, and run it in demo mode to get a feel for it. If you look at their website www.bimmercode.app and select the G05, it will list the functions it can let you tweak. Pay close attention, as some features can be changed, but to restore them, you can't just change that item back, you need to use a backup and restore that. So, you may need to specifically save that (automatic) backup. There's a difference between how Android and iOS keeps backups, so pay attention to that. If restore via backup is required, it will tell you, otherwise, it's just run the app again, and change the setting. It's pretty simplistic, and not as comprehensive as using the OEM software to change things. For many people, it can provide more than enough tweaking, though.
You do have to pay for it prior to actually changing the things in the vehicle, though. |

Update: my adapter arrived. I then connected it to my bimmercode app and all worked good as I reconfigured a few things. The only error I got was when trying to inactivate the stop/start function. So, I'm stuck on that one for now. Got video in motion though.

Was the engine running when you tried to code ASS? If so, that's the problem. You need to be in diagnostic mode with engine not running to code DME.

Ah ha....that makes sense. I did have the engine running. Was worried about battery drain. Now that I know how long actions take, I'm more confident. Thanks...I'll go back and fix that one.
