You are right! Also in general the testmule looks weird to me, not sure ig we really see a LCI here. Besides no changes at the rears, the headlights also look like very early prototype lights they usually put on the first new gen prototype cars and not like final lights they usually should be testing at this stage where the car is only in "light LCI" camo...

I'm leaning towards it being some type of test vehicle just like last year when supposed LCI spy shots were leaked. I think it turned out they were testing battery packs or something.

Pretty sure this is just the hydrogen X5 that was a concept at the auto show a while back, not an LCI. It was already seen testing a few months ago. If its the hydrogen car, this is actually the result of the BMW-Toyota partnership for the Supra/Z4, since Toyota is providing the fuel cells.

Even though a lot of options were taken away for MY21, you still can order them as these options are still offered or available in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. For some reasons the US market was effected, yet these cars are built in the US. Expensive though to order.

The US 5 Series lost the soft automatic close doors, touch climate control, 4-zone climate control and the CD player. The US M5 models have these options and in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East still gets them.

it seems like the US market is being punished. They raised the processes with less options. Isn't each year the cars suppose to have more and not less? Via Facebook and Twitter send BMW USA and BMW NA your thoughts. If you are BMW CCA, member let them know too. They have a lot of influence.
I am friends with the Sales Manager at my dealer. He told me the X5 LCI is 100% coming this summer. Production starts in August.

Can't wait for the reveal and see what they do to update it, the current generation X5 is probably my favourite since the E70 X5M.

Why does that photo look like it has the front bumper from the current X5M?? They can't call it Life Cycle Impulse by just slapping on a M bumper. LMAO

This is likely why, the X5 Hydrogen model for some reason uses the M bumper.

Still no confirmation if the G05 and/or G07 LCI has been moved up from MY2023 to MY2022.

At first I was relieved to see these "LCI" pics showing a car very similar to pre LCI G05. After giving it some more thought, I would have to agree with those that believe this is just a test vehicle of some kind, maybe the hydrogen fuel cell X5. Most certainly looks like an X5M front bumper and there has never been an LCI without some kind of revision to the taillight design. I'll go back to hoping the LCI for both the G05 & G07 isn't too drastic of a departure from pre LCI models.

While historically true, on occasion BMW internal planning switches things up for various reasons.

For example, first retail sales of the G07 started Spring 2019, LCI should be MY23 - however there's high probability of seeing a G07 LCI this fall.

Spy shots documented G07 LCI testing vehicles out and about back in Dec 2020.
G07 LCI will be 2023 Model year I can confirm it will not be in 22.

I’ll bet money against that being true. Model Year (MY) 22 is only the 4th year. LCI usually comes at year 5 (of typical 7 year run)

Interestingly, the new model thread here lists EOP for the G05 as 7/2026 (which is calendar date). That would would mean an 8 MY run for the G05.

Yeah, and that thread still says LCI for G07 SOP 8/22 for MY2023. Yngdulyn has yet to answer my question whether that is being moved up to MY2022. Nothing stated for G05 LCI.

It can't be an LCI, the grille hasn't grown.

My bet it's just a more powerful PHEV. Like X5 55e. Like 545e vs 530e.

But why does it say "Hybrid Test Vehicle" then and has a plug door where the above Hydrogen Next doesn't? I believe those designations are pretty important/regulatory/safety things and not to be messed with.

So I think it might rather be an X8 MXXe test mule, i.e. testing that hybrid drivetrain in an X5 body and/or the above M-Performance PHEV is also coming to the X5 later on. The second last photo in the gallery also shows quad tailpipes.

Looks like the LCI is coming in 22. Here is a BMWBLOG article on it showing testing outdoors.

https://www.bmwblog.com/2021/02/02/b...otted-testing/

Edit: The above articles links to the original article by autoevolution so who knows at this point.

The photos in that article appear to be from 2018 (at least the photo URL is https://cdn.bmwblog.com/wp-content/u...-Testing-3.jpg), and they link to the same autoevolution source than this post is about, i.e. that hybrid test vehicle.

So no news here I think.

Front X5///M grill is too aggressive for this SAV.
Very minor changes.
