Funny, I’ve never had that problem on the X5. Wonder if the angles are different enough to make a difference?

No idea; we did not get it in our M50i X5.The diamond cuts create a prism effect and rainbow light glares off the iDrive controller and the shift knob.

I don't really mind the dual screens. I enjoyed the dual screen in my previous car (W213 E300) but I hate the fact losing the gear shifter.

Yet the average age of cars in the U.S. is 11.9 years old and a quarter of the cars on the road are 16+ years old. Cars are becoming more disposable or what?
Sadly, yes, we live in world of immense wastefulness and a culture where everything is viewed as disposable and quick to be replaced. People are replacing their iphones annually with each new release. Buying new clothes/shoes wearing it a few times then throwing it out. Cars are being churned through quickly, BMW et al is a leasing brand nowadays. 36 month lease then on the next.

Gross.

This tablet trend is awful. I can't wait until it ends and manufactures go back to hard buttons.

If you look closely beside/below the shifter you can see D/S so I would imagine you pull back on it when in drive and the gearbox will be in sport.

I doubt they removed it completely... It may be moved to buttons on the steering wheel next to paddles or something similar but either way let's keep in mind this is test mule and will probably vary from the images once in production.

The other thing is there is no backup system — all it has to happen is for the screen to die and all your systems are dead
