Question MSRP discount - new thread!

I know this is an old topic but I didn't see a current one. I am special ordering a 2021 X5 45e and shopping around. One dealer offered me $9,000 off a $77,095 MSRP, minus tax tag and fees. While I know I'll want to watch the fees closely, this sounds like a good deal. Thoughts?

Thanks!

Including incentives or without? A great deal on this model would be 10% off MSRP pre incentive. 8-9% is more typical given popularity and supply constraints on this model.

Discounts vary depending on what region of the country you live in.

Got 9.3% discount before incentives 3 weeks ago. Happy with that!

I'm a chump. I settled for 4.5% off + incentives but I didn't haggle. Next time I will be sure to read these forums before I buy, not after. I just didn't know I was going to buy that day as I was just killing time while car was being serviced...

Did you buy or lease?
Bought. I will find out about the documentation fees etc. when I go to get the vehicle. I got good value on my trade so that makes up for some of it. Funny when I bought a car for one of my kids last week I haggled the heck out of it and saved quite a bit. My thought when I ordered mine is when I am spending almost a hundred grand I wasn't in the mood to haggle for a few more grand off the price. I do the same thing (no haggling) when purchasing real estate although that's definitely a sellers market around here these days. But I digress....

Maybe I'm just terrible at negotiating, but I'm in the Bay Area in CA and couldn't get close to 10% off.

I contacted as many dealers as I could, and most offered 5% off right away. But as soon as I tried to get a bigger discount most didn't even bother responding (with the exception of Jon Shafer at Santa Maria BMW, who I will definitely be considering going to in the future).

Ultimately I ended up at 7.6% off before incentives. 9 or 10% off would've been nice, but at a certain point it was pretty clear that wasn't going to happen.

Personally, i negotiate on nearly everything when possible. I ask stores of there's any promotions or discounts available. I ask dunkin donuts if i can buy out the rest of their donuts at the end of the day for a discount.
Haha that's awesome! No the discount was a percentage of MSRP before the manufacturer incentives... I just didn't fight them to go lower when they said they wouldn't..

Which dealer did you use? I'm assuming in Northern California?

I'm in Contra Costa County.

I've got a configuration ready and looking for the right dealer with an available 45e allocation...

I used Roseville. Right off the bat they offered 6%, then 8%, but got them to 10% for a 40i. Not sure if 10% is attainable on a 45e allocation due to less allocations available.

anyone got decent discount in Central Texas or surrounding areas? For those that got 10%, was it from inventory or new orders? Also, i am looking at X7 and wondering if the discount structure is different.

We just took delivery of a 45e on Sat we ordered back on 3/27 in Northern NJ. We were able to get $5300 on a $77,895 build and then $4000 in rebates with .9 rate. It was the best deal we could find in the area at the time. Dealer thru in heated wheel/armrest option. By the sound of recent developments, we are glad we got our HK and M Sport options. Now we are off to get a nice ceramic coating in Cranbury.

Wondering if anyone in Bay Area, CA can share how much discount they got for X5 45e custom order?

BMW SF is offering 6% off, not sure if it's good or bad in current market?

I’m in SoCal, however based on discussions with various dealers I can tell you that 6% on an order car is just above invoice which I’d say is an ok deal. The most you’ll probably find in this market is 8%. Some dealers I’m hearing are only budging a couple grand from MSRP, even on in stock cars.

If you’re interested in a so cal dealer PM me and I can recommend some dealers who will likely do 8-8.5% off MSRP.

You should order from a dealer in SoCal so that SF has allocation left for me.

My dealer told me they can't apply loyalty credit on ordered car, is that true?
