Tanzanite Blue II and San Marino Blue

Hi. I put my order in for a X5 M50i and i picked the Tanzanite Blue II as the color. I was on the Individual site and I saw the San Marino Blue which is very similar. Can anyone post pics of the 2 colors please. Also, can Individual colors be ordered as of this month? I was reading that none can be ordered. Only the ones that are on the BMWUSA.com builder.

In my opinion they are not similar at all. Tanzanite is really dark blue and San Marino is rather vivid blue.

See the photos attached. Last picture is San Marino Blue in the sun on the X5

I have to agree on them not being similar. Tanzanite is not as "blue" as the San Marino. But I do understand they might look similar depending on the lightning when taking the picture. In direct sunlight, my car shows a lot more blueish, sometimes has a purple shine in it. It's very hard to catch it on a photo.

To me Tanz has a dark blue even a slight black look to it.. like others said San Marino is more of a blue and pops in the sun really well

Here's my TB.

When washed/in sunlight, it pops but otherwise it's a very dark blue.

SMB is a better colour and if I could choose again, I'd have gone for Carbon Black and used the money towards other options.

Those two colors aren't even remotely close.

Tanz looks almost black and needs the sun to make the blue flakes show.

SMB or MBB on the X6M looks bright blue no matter what the conditions are outside. When its clean and the sun is out it pops like its glowing. Its not a color you want to pick if you want to be low key.

Tanz is slightly more blue than carbon black, but still has that same dual color (dark, almost black in shade, blue in sunlight). SMB and MBB are bright metallic blues.

Both hues are gorgeous but the Tz has a darker tint compared to SM. At night the Tz can appear almost black unless there's a spotlight on it

We ordered Tanzanite for our incoming X5 m50i without seeing in flesh. Wife wanted a dark blue and seems like TB is the closest to that. Saw one on the road recently and looked great, so am relieved!

Couple more weeks until delivery..

I agree...I also went with TB and compared to CB...they're close-ish.

TB i would say is "blue...leaning to black" and CB is like "black...leaning to blue" if that makes any sense.

Nighttime...i think both colors look the same though...a shade of black.

Nonetheless...i really love my ride.

Just picked up our TB M50i today. Few quick snaps on the phone - I think it looks better in real life. Very happy with the colour choice!

By the way, San Marino Blue is bonkers and I have zero regrets paying extra for it. If you think Marina Bay Blue is amazing, which it is, SMB takes it to another level. Very similar colors but SMB has more depth, maybe a touch darker, and the color shift from blue to purple at certain angles is incredible.

Once my 22" wheels arrive and get installed I'll post pics.

I agree, as SMB is more blue whereas MBB has a purplish undertone. Maybe SMB will be used as a upcoming 2025 M4 CS color.

I think you have it backwards. San Marino Blue definitely has purple undertones. I don't even like the color purple that much but love how dynamic it makes this paint.

(also, the pricing sheet I posted above disappeared so I reposted, we'll see if it stays this time)

I have never had a SMB color car (BMW NA cancelled my F93 order during the pandemic prior to EOP), but my ‘21 MBB X5M others have thought it was purple car from a distance.
