Order status going backwards?
On Monday, my July x5m50i order changed to scheduled for production. Today (Thursday) it went back to order received. Has this happened to anyone before?
The previous week, BMW Genius said week 48 for the build. On Monday when the status changed, the dealer said they were showing week 40. I never thought that in 2021, we would be experiencing a chip shortage... what a weird time in history. |

This has not happened to me. But I will say, my SA has warned me multiple times to not glean into the MyGarage status too much in the early days; siting unwarranted customer frustration; he actually said don't even look at it (but we all know that's unrealistic...haha!).
I'm week 43 (next week) on a build and only last night did my status change from Order Received to Scheduled for Production ; while others here on week 43 had their status change ages ago. That said, the question to ask is if there is ANYTHING on your unique build that is delaying your production - based on what they see/or know today. Quote:

I'm crossing my fingers the B&W system stays on it! It's still listed at least. |

Your B&W stereo is 100% delaying your build. Mine fluctuated a lot in the beginning and then was scheduled for week 50….put the order in a month ago. Dealership called and rep says it was the B&W. We took it off the order and build went into production the next day. |

You have to click on the "watch on youtube" link - it's a 30 min overview of the M50i and they also go deep on features/options in other videos |

I’m still debating on what I want to do. I technically don’t need a new car until next summer. It would be nice to get what I want. |

I've heard the next supply chain crisis is magnesium which is used in all things aluminum. Add to that lots of speculation new car prices are going to go up. Just something to consider in the dilemma on whether to wait or not. Not sure things will be better, and might even be worse by next summer.

If I were you, I'd probably wait as I hear the B&W is coming back in January (PURE rumor) and maybe other stuff too as we move into Q1. I have a feeling BMW has decided to let Q4 go by with "decontented" vehicles, but I can't imagine they'll keep it up ... further, the 7er debuts in July with a bunch of new stuff including a new B&W system. I'd either wait it out or get the vehicle and plan on selling it 5-6 months used (assuming you're willing to take on the market risk and/or depreciation) |
