As far as I know, you can pay it off at anytime and it won't effect the purchaser but the dealer will get charged-back if it is paid off before three payments are made.

Well hallelujah!

My faith in humanity has been restored… whether by hook or by crook, my dealer got us an allocation and we have an actual Production Number!

Not surprisingly, the tow hitch was cancelled (we had to sign off on the new order sheet). So, $550 cheaper, but it’ll be a lot more than that to install one later…we do keep the neater/prettier rear cover of course, and now have the “kick to open” functionality restored, so there are real benefits to going this route.

Car is in status 111 (order accepted), so I’m guessing we’ll take delivery some time near Thanksgiving unless there are more production delays.

Thanks again to all for your advice and for letting me rant without too much push back … LOL

This is gonna be a fun ride!

Congratulations! Have followed your journey and glad your dealer was able to pull through for you. My process was much less dramatic, dealer had an allocation ready and was waiting for me to make up my mind on a few last options. My build was entered last week and just moved to "Production Begins - Today's the day: your BMW has entered the production queue." Bets on how many times per day I will be checking for additional updates?

You can relax for awhile. You probably won't see an update for 10 days or so. The Production Begins status means that a VIN has been assigned and the parts ordered/allocated not that physical assembly has begun. Once assembly begins you should see it fly through a bunch of steps in less than a day's work.

111 means you are likely a December build maybe week 48. So don't get your hopes up for a delivery by the end of next month

I don't think you're getting Thanksgiving delivery. Week 45/46 customers are getting mid to late November deliveries and those ppl got their orders in no later than early Oct.

I am a week 43 and my car was done this week. Week 2 November delivery to west coast.

You're probably a late Dec (if you're close to SC) but as I said, likely a January. In Nov and Dec, you lose a production and or delivery week due to holidays.

In any case you got an allocation, which for some has been challenging, so congratulations

OK…

Just off the phone w/BMW Genius..really nice and helpful btw…and actually knowledgable about their product too! What a pleasant surprise.

Regardless, found out we’re currently scheduled for week 50 production. It can move up, but frankly, in this environment, I‘d argue it’s as likely to slip a week or two…very likely we won’t take delivery this calendar year without changing some parameters of the deal.

Seriously considering flying to the factory to speed the process a couple weeks…would really like to get the $7500 ‘bird in the hand’ tax break this year…. Best I can discern is that next year the 45e will get a $4K tax break…no union labor at the plant, and the fuel tank for the gas motor is obviously >2.5 gallons. That might change…but again, it could go away completely too.

I know several board members have done the factory delivery…. Other than working through our dealership, anything special required to set that up?

Edit: trying to discern how much, if any, time is saved on the delivery.

^ It could save time on delivery but it all depends on the schedule at PCD. You also will want to check with your dealer, I have seen some folks say that you need to make them aware of a PCD delivery at time of order. I would assume that is not set in stone but I don't know.

Yeah, obviously your dealer will know IF you can still do it, but overall the time-saver factors would be:

(1.) When can you get a PCD appointment? Right after production?

(2.) Shipping time from SC to TX

(3.) Dealer PDI time (depends in dealer staffing)

(4.) CA/SA time - when can you get on their schedule for delivery?

Final consideration is, of course, driving it back and any plans you'd have to PPF and/or LSP it before you leave.

I just saw a post in another thread that the poster's appointment for PCD was close to two weeks after it was being produced. Shipping to Texas is usually less than a week so if that timing continues it would be quicker to take delivery at your dealer.
